Hey guys what’s the laws on simply quading down a rivers edge not in the water, just riding along shore, on the reddeer river!? Just to run a sluice box or camp along the river

Not real sure, but any fish bearing water way is a no no. Regardless of wether it’s in the water or along the shoreline.

Hey guys what’s the laws on simply quading down a rivers edge not in the water, just riding along shore, on the reddeer river!? And maybe running a gold sluice or camping with a tent!?

outflow from sluice box not supposed to go directly to river. i would also stay out of the river, not much sense in attracting attention. i can see you getting reported by the general public lots. who needs that kind of attention.

In this day and age I would not go anywhere near a river or river banks, you never know who is watching and video cameras are in everyones pockets these days.

I realize how to run my sluice box I’m aware of the regulations I was asking about quading nothing to do with my sluice box as far as running right into the water, I wouldn’t dare

im more wondering about quading down the rock covered shore, I can sluice anywhere I want I’ve has people float down and game wardens more concerned if I find anything

hmm, best go ask a fisheries officer and find out, as it is there is very little river access due to private property all along both sides of the river. you are just looking for trouble in my opinion.

I jet boat down the North Saskatchewan lots and see lots of guys running there sluice right back into the river. I never even thought about that before. As for a quad on the banks if you took it easy and stayed as far away as possible from the water I can’t see it being an issue

well you can do just about anything you want till you get caught! you can likely ride the red deer river down by Garrington, and also west of Sundre. can't ride in red deer city limits, private property from red deer to joffre bridge going east. west from red deer is private property to the penhold bridge, penhold bridge to dickson dam is all private property, why even try poking the sleeping dog, not worth the head ache, land owners down there usually have a gun when then confront you. trespass fine tops out around $2000, fins n feathers, can also take your quad, truck, etc. have fun, knock your socks off.

used to be able to ride a lot of the river , until people didn't think it would be a problem?

Thanks guys the way I read it 20ft from the waters edge up to the bank is not private property,

yes to high water mark, let me ask were you are wanting to ride are there trails like out west of Caroline or Rocky, if not ask yourself why not? because if you were allowed to there would be trails like them from Red Deer to drumheller and from red deer to ya ha tinda area.

best to call Rocky forestry and get there view on legalities. i have seen people on the west bank of river at innisfail bridge, mostly not to far from bridge, again call forestry, as they are the ones handing out the fines.

river boats would have no problem, if he can get access to river, may be able to ride along the banks. best to ask fish and game first to find out for sure.

My understanding is it’s 20’ from high water mark. Issue is not many people know they shouldn’t be riding in this area and where the heck is the high water mark? How many will understand that?
