I was thinking of getting something I could use for the summer and maybe throw a camso kit on in the winter. The more guys I talk to about this the more I hear you are better off having a dedicated bike for each

There's some merit to that. It's more work than you might think. I only swapped mine back to summer once. Track's stayed on it since then. A 450's really too much bike for me on wheels anyway, but I might swap it back out again next summer. Can't really justify buying another bike for summer, and I've kind of missed it the last two years.

RMZ450 is priced lower because they haven't changed anything in ever...i'm not a yellow fan but if it ain't broke don't fix it, and ones i have riden pull good. Guys i know that ride them love em, Plus on a track yellow beast has 5 speed and has looong gears, at least the older models did not sure about newer ones. I bleed red only. 13 450, 08 450, 01/02 AFcr500 in pieces and 03 cr250 had a 07 also but traded it for 2 crf50's one a 11 one a 14 for my girls...hope to get them on it soon. I see you got the yami, congrats on the purchase. Never riden one so my 2 cents are 0. If you ever come this way to ride let me know and you can try something different...

Heres what I ended up with. 2015 yz450. Has 120 hours total with recent top to bottom rebuild. Owner was a licensed mechanic. Enzo suspension, fmf titanium exhaust, bigger front brakes, newer tires chain and sprockets. Overall pretty good shape. Picked it up for $4500 so not a steal, but not too bad of deal I thought. The full rebuild was the main reason i went with this one. Gets pretty pricey, especially if you arent comfortable doing it yourself.

I put $2800 into a grenaded YFZ 450R once, when times were good.

That's about 60% of what you paid, so $4500 seems pretty good.

A new 450 Honda is probably in the $12,000r range !
