Download & try WikiLoc before buying a GPS, free free free....
Iíve tried a few apps over the years that werenít good so kept using a GPS, now with WikiLoc & other apps Iíll never buy another GPS again... Technology is changing rapidly and apps will continue to be significantly improved.

That is one thing that I did not like about my tablet, it did not store and download to google earth as good as my gps. But I did not use WikiLoc as an app, I was just hoping to download routes from their data base...not many atv ones around pg, I guess that is my fault i a member. Grinder if you find your batteries are not that great, china makes some lithium ion AA rechargeables that make it 12hrs on a charge. As far as that 1000 dollar cell phone, a china tough phone for 100 bucks and a 7-11 sim card... 25 dollars last a year. Who knows you might even chuck your 1000 dollar cell phone after using the 100 dollar one.

So you need to purchase maps after downloading memory maps?

What maps are worth it for topi, and can it be overlayed or get a birds eye view

Re: GPS / Google maps, etc

This is only for JPR, Nautical and Topo maps but there is a function for google earth to appear side by side I doubt it would work offline. You can buy the dvd then a third party licensing agreement to run the maps or download the memory map app for free then choose to run free maps or pay for some...there are lots of maps for any area. Then when you hit your volume button it brings your maps down from large size whole province to delorme then 1 to 250000 then to 1 to 50000. There is a tab on top that you pull down that can be customized for 50 different options right down from prop speed to eta. If you want satellite positioning for you location on your laptop at home that will require a higher licensing agreement and you will need cell service for this option to work Download app maps about 26 bucks for the whole province in 1-250000 and 1-50000. Dvd I think was 30 or 40 bucks from map town licensing agreement 20 or 30 bucks. This thing is massive, I have mastered 50% of it in 25 years. For some reason it improves the accuracy of google earth 3d offline. You can print any map it is just like the ones your buy for 25 bucks a map and take it will you.

Re: GPS / Google maps, etc

Android version of the app, it will require downloading the province or canada to work offline. It will be free to use on about 5 different maps. Apple requires a different app. Downloading entire province in 1-50000 will take a long time, not required with DVD. This is not easy to master either method for most people. But once installed and working it is amazing.
