Suggested maintenance - my new (older) quad

Ok.....Id like to go through the quad i just bought and change fluids, etc.

The quad is 12 years old and only has 600 kms on it. Im guessing fluids havent been changed in a while

What things should i do for maintenance before taking this bad boy for a rip?

Im guessing change engine oil.....each axle oil chg too? is there a trans on these that has fluid? Im guesing i could change the coolant fluid. Any other fluids?

It was filled with fresh gas so thats ok i believe....but maybe run some fuel inj cleaner in the tank??

Anything else???

Its a 2005 polaris sportsman 700 efi

Check ball joints to see how they are. I bought a used outlander and everything looked good but second time out and a ball joint broke and dam near killed my wife. I knew the fellow that owned it and he faithfully changed fluids annually. The ball joint had been ready to break a long time before I bought it but luckly we all came out of it safe and sound. +1 on the manual, first thing I ever buy.
Engine, trans (if applicable), both diffs, spark plugs, air filter, and coolant (if applicable) all changed and a good look over at the brakes, ball joints, wheel bearings, tires and I'd say your ready for a shake down run. Shake down run just don't go too far, loop back to the vehicle often so your not deep in the woods if something rears it's ugly head, also of course avoid going out by your self just in case.

Personally I would just check oil and check/maybe change diffs.
I’ve never bought a shop manual as I get all my info online instead.
Free visual inspections for sure like others mentioned.

If you have the manual then change the engine and diff oils. Replace the belt and keep old one as a spare. I suggest getting the carbon fibre gates belt. Remove the air filter and clean. Remove all electrical connectors and inspect. If no corrosion then add some dielectric grease. Just a bit. Too much will spread the terminals. Make sure your battery connections are good. Test the winch and make sure the cable is good

Every used thing I buy I change all the fluids. Maybe not the coolant but at least test it. Fluids are cheap and easy to change. When changing the front diff oil use the Polaris stuff.

Just a hint, the front diff fluid drain is probably behind the winch (it was there on my 2013), you may have to remove it for access. Remove the filler cap before you remove the drain. They can strip out easily. Ask me how I know.

thx everyone!!! can you use injector cleaner in the gasoline on these machines?? I plan on using premium gasonline but i dont think the prev owner did

Seafoam is good sh!t. Most likely don’t need premium so wouldn’t waste your money on running it.

I use Seafoam 2-3 times a year, I also only use Shell premium as it's the only gas I can find locally that has no ethanol in it.

make sure all the dust is going through the filter and not bypassing and going straight into the engine.
