After riding in a 60 " wide sxs it's hard to go back to a 50" .
Unless you absolutely have a 50 " trail width restriction, I don't see the point In a 50 anymore .

Why ?
They are too tippy .
The axles are at too much of an angle if you try to get any decent ground clearance .

The suspension is very limited due to this and the lack of suspension travel do to short a arms .
Also the majority I see ,have added offset rims & bigger tires , so most are 54 / 55 wide anyways ...

And then your suspension and shocks just don't work well. Not to mention the extra wear on your bushings / bearings etc etc ...once you have widened it
And once again articulation is minimal ,so they just don't go as well
One thing I have realized with sxs 'a ...
Get good suspension, it is the most important part of the machine ... !

Just my opinion ,but s 60" is twice the machine ....

All good points the orginal rzr was designed to be trail friendly in the north east us but having said that 50 inch machines are still offered and do sell as a beginners machine or even for less aggressive people who may even like the convenience of how they are hauled. I do believe they should not be powered to high for the reasons you have mentioned. around 55 hp max.

On the Cf moto test ride, road a 50 inch and 60 inch 800

I actually preferred the 50 inch, had more jam and was way more fun to hang out the switch back corners

Road way, way better than my 800 rzr,

Mabe something was wrong with the 60 inch, but it only had 250 km on it

Bought a 50" for transportations reasons and due to the narrow trails around Calgary. Glad I've had it for the last 3 years but as time flies and SxS get way more popular I've noticed many of the trails have also widened up.
For all the reasons mentioned by rzrgade next one will be 60" wide.

yes there were issues with the 60 in. I wish I drove the 50 inch 800 but even the 500 had some nice grunt down. low. You might have to open up the wallet and get some shocks for the rzr
