You can always PM me or reply on this thread too either Cal Rakach or my self if anyone requests more information about the BHAS stuff.

It's a group of folks in our Red Deer and area that work on trails in the Big Horn area.

Dam site and Hummingbird / Onion Lake.
And we look after our own riding trails on top of that,,, areas where we travel.

Kinda like the S&M crews on this forum.
The BHAS is under the AOHVA umbrella,,, this is where Cal Rakach comes in as he is a wealth of information, and has contacts too many folks at different levels.

If I wanted information on the happening of things related to what's happening on West regarding those areas, I'd be using this thread on S&M since its the go too posse-net-work of fast.

Kinda like the Wells Fargo mail service but much faster.

Thanks too S&M for letting us have access too their Web site as it means so much too keeping everyone in the loop.

It's Web forums like this that allows community too chime in and be a part of... That's what really counts.

Just received info from Cal that the post cards / info forums are ready for pick up this weekend.

I gather some up and get them too those that are interested in meeting folks along the way in their travels over the months ahead.

Meeting folks at camp sites, on the trail, or in their daily lives in the work force of communities where humans hang out.

All easy too do since we're going to be doing our OHV travels any-who.

Cal is still trying too get the word from AEP of Alberta so we can do the trail repairs behind the Big Horn Dam, then we still need too check out the Humming Bird/ Onion Lake trails.

Let's think of this as the loooooooooong road as the AEP might contact Cal by June or July on this. "we" hope that is.

Our proactive move on the post cards of 2 questions...

Do you like camping on Crown lands & having access too both Big Horn Dam area and the Humming Bird.

Thanks again too Cal, Troy, and Dennis with BHAS for their time at moving this forward, and too those that would help out meeting folks in their travels too see if other folks are on or off board with having access too crown lands.

Please keep this thread open as we give a proactive idea a try.

West of here.
Please give us as much time as possible as to when the next trail maintenance is scheduled as we'd love to come along and help. There will be 4 of us (or more) and at least one Stihl chainsaw.

OK, cards are in as I get the mail outs underway.
They are just hand out post cards for now as it is wise to keep people in the loop and get the word out there.

Cal would like too thank everyone for all their efforts up too this point in time... Me too.

The Hummingbird trail repair dating is June 30th, July 1 & 2 as it stands for now... Weather pending of course.

Come out with camping set up, bring lawn chair, trail lunch and water, coffee and good times.
No trees too cut, but a shovel would be handy as we devert water away from trails,,, just easy stuff for now.

I'll get Cal chime in as he knows this stuff.

More too come as I'm juggling work and fun times in life,,, just like many of you folks.

Thanks again all as I get the hand out cards too all, and those that view the thread can PM me our chime in freely for information going forward.

I got to thank you Don for your efforts. As you mention it is a juggle between workand fun times.
Welcome to this world. Many hard working folks are living this life while still working hard tokeep us riding. Every extra helping handis greatly appreciated. A little bit of help from everybody makes thejob easier.
Not much to tell you all on where Land Use things stand; You can bet the wheels of government arechurning away.

Castle Plan is under review; compiling consultation input…allthe while equipment has already started digging up the place building campingnodes and soon day-use areas.
There are workshops in the south to figure out the Porkiesand Livingstone. AOHVA and clubs downsouth have representation. I am not optimistic. I see history repeating itself, again, with aprocess we’ve used before and failed.
No word on the release of the N. Sask River Regional Plan(NSRP), Regional Advisory Council (RAC) Report. The release of this report will trigger another round of consultationwith will require our participation. Thanks to allthose that have written letters and been heard; great stuff but that was only practice for what is coming up.

AOHVA is producing information and educational material. There has always been a vast library of educationmaterial available free of charge from Canadian Off Highway Vehicle DistributorCouncil (COHV). If you have an event orjust the urge to pass out to riders in the bush (as long as it does not becomegarbage), please contact me and can set you up.
Just you all understand why we have ended up where we aretoday, below is a list of processes, regulations, deficiencies solved before move forward. We are set up to fail.

  1. A formal regional trail planning process beestablished.
  2. A formal provincial trail approval policy beestablished.
  3. A long term sustainable funding program beestablished.
  4. A formal process to enable end land use planningie; designating appropriate abandoned well sites as camping nodes.
  5. Addressing the Traffic Safety Act to allow for‘share road use’ to integrate with trail systems.
  6. A trail project management system that includesthe full scope of planning; initial trail inventory, consultation program, communications program, surface land permitting, survey, GIS, engineering, education program, enforcement and program monitoring.
  7. A provincial stewardship program to support suchtrail operators.
  8. A policy to recognize appropriate industriallinear footprint (Right of Ways, cut block roads) as a designated routes
  9. A new recreation trail disposition establishedto provide security for the trail operators.
  10. A clear assignment of liability or liabilitymanagement program be established.
If we don’t solve these, whatever we try will fail.
Minister Phillips does have this list. Waiting response.
Everyone have a fun and safe May Long. Enjoy it while you can, change is coming.

^^^ X's by two as the above post by you Cal is what needs too get out there.

I'm just a small part of this just like the many that follow this thread.

Yes that life is a juggling act, but there's nothing better than knowing we are giving it our best shot.

I can't stress enough oh how important it is too relax and grab a breath, do what we do in our daily lives, and offer up the 1 too 2% of our time too help retain our OHV, snowmobile and free camping on Crown lands.

Times are changing, so we hope to push and ask for this stuff to remain.

When I was young I could of cared less, I blame the elders,,, guess I should of thunk this threw a bit as it was us the younger generation that are now in this change of times.

All ages, all user groups and sharing info is what needs to take place if we want it.

I think of it as all up hill, all the time, and no letting up as the GOA can pull the carpet from under our feet at any time.

This goes for Harvesting, fishing, hiking, and horse use.
Me and many here fit in with this some how and in different ways.
