I was wondering what oil most recommend for a King Quad 750?
I was contemplating Amsoil, Mobil 1 or the Suzuki oil in 10w40.
Not that it is a big deal, but there is a big price difference between the different choices. I have no problem paying $20 a litre for Amsoil, but if Mobil 1 is just as good, it is almost half the price. Not sure what the Suzuki oil costs.

buy the best oil you can afford. if your quad is under warranty you may as well use the recommended oil for fewer problems. amsoil is good and about 11.00 / litre, has a nice guaranty and you can stretch your dollar a little, as you could stretch oil changes to 3 times recommended change intervals. oil is cheap compared to engine overhaul so change it frequently

Where did you find Amsoil for $11 a litre? It is $19 at Can tire in my city.
I can afford the Amsoil, but Mobil 1 is $6 a litre less. So I figure if it is as good, why pay more. I will be in Alberta in two weeks. If I can get Amsoil for $11 a litre I will pick up extra.
I do not like the idea of extending change intervals, even with premium oils that say you can. Mechanics I know talk about seasonal oil changes if you do not hit the recommended distance. Things to do with condensation due to cold starts and a few other things. So I will be changing at the recommended intervals regardless of the oil I use.

try peavy mart or go straight to the stealer. i agree with the extended change intervals, just made a suggestion as you were concerned with price. a couple litres of oil a few times a year is not that bad for a quad. try the same with a diesel 17 liters you may change your tune a little .
anyway shop around for the best deal you can find and then buy a years supply.

You are right. The amount of oil a quad uses is no big deal price wise. Just wanted to know what people thought was the best and if Amsoil was worth the extra money.
I have not used Amsoil in my truck because I am not sold on the extended drain interval thing. And $250 for oil 4 or 5 times a year with the amount of driving I do is starting to get expensive.

try changing oil every 10 days or so. did that for about 18 months in 03/04, went back to gas truck in a hurry. not doing the miles these days but about every 6 weeks now +/-. synthetic oil should be better than conventional in many cases, more money sure, but you can go a little further between changes if you want. quads definitely get abused a lot more, don't use as much oil for changes so the expense isn't as bad.

An oil change every 10 days!!! 500+ km a day? Wow, I only average 100 km a day, 35,000 a year. All I am saying is that I am not sold on extened oil change intervals. I have talked to a few mechanics and done a little research and figure I will keep within the manufactures recommendations regardless of what oil I use. My truck actually has a severe oil change interval of 12,000 km, but I have never gone more than 8,000 km, and most of the time I change at 6000 km. Of interest, it is actually 12,000 km or 3 months. I think there is more significance to the 3 months than most realize, (condensation due to cold starts and seasonal issues). Once again based on what I have heard. I am not a mechanic, so I try to listen and find out what sounds good to me.
Really all I want to find out is what most people are running in the King Quad.
$10, or $20 a litre is not a big deal to me, but really, why spend the $20 if the $10 is just as good. Also maybe someone may have a recommendation other than Mobil 1 or Amsoil.

you can use any oil you like. most are real good and with frequent changes you should not have any problems. amsoil, bluemarble, suzuki oil, royal purple, esso, chevron etc. take your pick, should work well.

Just make sure it has the proper rating for wet clutches as i believe Suzuki uses a wet clutch in thier quads.....

Exactly, Look for the JASO aproval,
How many k's r on ur king? Suzuki 10w40 works, and is only $5/liter
So 30 bucks gets u changed.(oil, filter, drain plug gasket)
Also make sure the oil bottle DOES NOT say energy conserving, bike will run hotter.
If u want to go synthetic oil, wait till after 1000 k's. Have seen ppl drain and change rite when they buy, and wonder why they're burnin oil after200 k. Or start leaking.
Have u had the first initial service done by dealer?
I've used IPONE syn 5w40, or amsoil 0w40 in summer and winter. We usually tell our customersw to change in spring and fall but thats up to u, if u like honey brown, or wait till she's black.
Good luck and happy muddin!

I run Rotella T-6 full synthetic 5W40 in both of my quads. It is easy to find , is a top quality oil, is relatively cheap compared to boutique oils and is full JASO-MA rated. Check out the ATV section at bobistheoilguy.com for a lot of good info on oil for ATV's. The conventional dino Rotella 15-40 is JASO-MA also. I have bought the T-6 on sale for 19.99 at the local auto parts store for a 1 gallon jug down here.
