Well just picked up my new ride and it has a batwing with a deck and 2 6x9's Ive noticed when it sits for 3 or 4 days the battery will get low and the bike will turn over to start.

Now i have done a drain down test and my deck draws .007 amps when the bike and stereo are off i know the deck has to pull some juice to keep presets and settings. No when he riding season actually comes i do plan to be riding enough to keep it charged up but every so ofter the bike will sit for a few days and i dont want to end up with a dead battery.

Now is there something wrong with my battery or is my stereo just pulling to much juice do the bigger harleys and other touring models have this problem (why i always here of guys plugging in tenders). Or is there a capacitor or something i can install to stop my batt from dyeing.

Same thing going on with our sxs....the memory on the cd player draws enough to kill the battery after a few weeks. I bought a few battery tenders at Cambodian Tire for $20 (on sale). I throw one on if it's not in use....kind of a pain, but it's easier than farting around with presets and the clock.

Another option I've seen some people do is put a 9V battery directly connected to the "memory" line and the ground this is enough to keep the memory presets but I'm not sure how long it will last *shrug*

Battery tender. The little bike batterys will wear out much quicker than a car battery.

Yup battery tender is the way to go, or ride more often. Between the stereo memory and alarm system on my Electra Glide it will draw the battery down in about 2-3 weeks from a full charge.

There are many small instruments fitted in your vehicle that are really supposed to stop and should not take energy any more but they dont and they do keep on consuming small parts of enery even when your vehicle is sitting idle, and even a small leak in the form of loose connection is good enough to drain your battery within a very small span so better do get all the wiring's checked.
