Hello,

My Sled and trailer were stolen again, honey's car was out of the parking stall for mere hours. its been just over 2 months since the last event.

on Auburn Bay Ave SE in Calgary, PH: FiveEightSeven-582-6767

2012 Polaris 600 RMK 144 (white with blue on the side panels)

License Plate: CWP26

VIN: SN1CK6GS7CC474075

Stolen Feb 23/2015, around 11:40 am, broad daylight with security cables still attached and dragging, locking the wheels!!!!!! Steve the neighbour said it sounded like a lowflying jet it was so loud.

A neighbour called to let me know and watched them go down the alley and flag a cop car. They were just a few moments behind their getaway. I raced to the scene from downtown hoping to stop them. 3 cops were on already scene and assessing, the one sled tie down had alot of greasy fingerprints and was taken by the police for fingerprinting.

Calgary Police Case Number: 15074651, hitch lock smashed, but they couldnt cut the other lock so they destroyed the reciever to take it. It was drug to the main alley just south of the house where they chopped the security cable and loaded it into the likely stolen tow rig, a brand new black dodge ram, spotlessly clean.

Trailer is recovered but the reciever is smashed, tires and rims maybe damaged due to being drug, damage to the trailer sides and i hope the axle is ok, but after getting the wrecked security cables removed, 2 cops and myself wheeled it back to our back yard. They took two of my new Snap on straps. Sled was stolen with cover, underseat bag, tunnel bag, ice scratchers and skid plate. All three security cables are trashed and the reciever lock is in two pieces.

Next 48 hours are key to recovering the sled, but is likely gone for good, there has been alot break in and thefts in auburn bay, cops have undercover guys on the lookout, its likely in someones garage in auburn bay. Quick petty thefts for drug money by tweakers is the guess. We are currently working on getting a garage and a security/alarm system and monitoring for both it and the house. We had a christmas bloody miracle with the recovery this time, luck has likely worn out though. Trailer will need repair and a new sled is likely a requirement. I have been driving around looking for the truck all PM.

This is bull**** and WILL stop.

Thank you for all your help.

That really sucks. I am a little surprised as I thought Auburn Bay was a safer than normal place. Guess you never know. So what does every one do to try and hang on to their stuff? I personally keep my stuff in a shop and the trailer is in a separate place but I live on an acreage so have options.

I hope they either find it quick or not at all if they had a chance to ride the crap out of it....

I should have put a tracker on the sled, my next one will be lowjacked and behind locked, alarmed walls.

What other steps would you guys recommend to try and get the word out?

Does anybody have an email for the golden and revy snowmobile clubs? Cops know, spoke to both cycleworks, insurance knows, its up in several facebook groups for stolen stuff and community blockwatches. Posted leaflets in some places as well. Should I see if the local news outlets would do a story on all the theft happening in the new areas of the SE? What else can i do?

Thanks

To bad your neighbor did not go after them or at least just follow them with the cops on the phone. Not sure I could just watch them drive away!

Well he watched them go down the alley from a couple blocks back, it is in the end just a sled and if they are carrying, he really doesnt need to get shot.

Id persue them with the cops on the phone, without question. You dont take my **** and I hide in the corner, id follow at safe distance and i wouldnt let it leave my sight.

GPS trackers for sure, with that, they can run all they want and the cops will roll up on them.

Wow... it's like an epidemic. Sorry to hear man. We had two sleds and trailer stolen on Jan. 3rd. It was a nightmare on all counts. Police told me they do't even investigate and just to file an insurance claim, despite having boot prints and tire tracks..... they don't even talk to neighbours to see if they had seen anything or possibly had a camera. I hope you get all your stuff back. Insurance was useless for me, but maybe you will have better luck.

Time to add onto the garage to keep it and trailer locked up tight!
