Boys have played as they should, McDavid and Draisatal up to there usual tricks everyone else is doing more than just watching them. We knew Neal trade was good but this is an exceptional start. Hopefully they can keep it up for a while I’m a believer the seasons starts to gain shape after 10-15 games.

It’s great to see a team that has faltered so often off to a great start but 4 games, 10 games, even 15 games doesn’t mean much if they can’t be consistent all season. The Oilers were not horrible last year until about Dec 16th I believe it was, in a playoff position and went on a miserable run while everyone else played good enough to continue to compete for that spot. At anytime though they were only 4-6 points back until the last month. A 4-0 start can be that difference.

That being said I am much happier seeing them 4-0 than 0-4 lol. Lots of good teams in the West and I read an article that put it into perspective that Edmonton only had to score 20 more goals over the course of the season or stop 15 more to be a playoff team. I wanted to see how likley that would be and looked at their last year results. They won 35 of 82 games, and looked at their goals against and for in those games, scoring 20 more isn’t as easy as stopping 15 in their losses. A better defence structure to stop 15 goals in 47 losses, 9 which were OT losses, isn’t as hard to achieve and it’s not unrealistic.

A new GM who has shown he can make a trade and not get fleeced, a new coach who by all accounts is a players coach with a system that players are buying into and a few roster moves that increase competition for ice time is paying off. I was never a fan of Todd McLellan for Edmonton. He had a better roster in SanJose and still struggled to get past the first round and never made it past the second during his time there.

Neal for Lucic is a win for both the players and teams. Lucic was relied upon to be a top six winger in Edmonton and it just wasn’t going to work long term. Neal was passed on the depth chart quickly in Calgary and in Edm is getting his chances.

Hockey in Edmonton is fun to watch again and no one expects their streak to last but knowing they can dig down and come from behind multiple times to pull out a win is not something we have grown to expect the last several years.

Morning/afternoon games when I work night shift is horrible though lol

Is this getting to good to be true or are the boys finally clicking? Game against the hawks they got out played but these wins aren't just flukes. I don't think i have had to yell at the tv once this year SHOOT THE PUCK! Last year seemed like a lot of passing play with lil to no shots on net. Now they just throwing them at the net from every angle. Super pumped how they have been playing and hope this isn't a string of luck and we can keep this momentum going. Exciting to watch the Oilers again. Keep er up boys!!!

Their haphazard play will catch up to them. While they have capitalized on the chances they have got they have been outplayed for a good portion of the last couple of games. Outshot, our chanced, taken bad penalties too often, lots of turn overs and missed stretch passes, and relied on decent goaltending and their top 4 players to score the majority of the points and many on the PP.

Getting the wins now is great but they need to clean up their game if they intend on playing more than 82 games this season.

Tippet will get a bunch of it sorted out, not sure he can work miracles though. I don’t like the excuses that they came off a long toad trip and were fatigued playing Philly. This is only 7 games into the season and Philly was on the second game of a back to back on their own road trip and dominated in the attacking zone. Being tired should not be any reason at all.
