This is a great jacket and with proper layering will be my only jacket for all conditions. Warm, dry, comfortable with excellent protection from the wind and snow.
I have worn this jacket at -17C and +3C and it has performed better than I expected. Wearing a micro-fleece long sleeve shirt with a fleece pullover keeps me warm on cold days. On warmer days I wear just the microfleece shirt (Cdn Tire) underneath. The jacket feels light and pliable, allowing me to jump around on my sled without any restriction.
The zipper is located on the side of the jacket and runs up to the arm pit. I have not had an issue zipping this down. My previous pullover (FXR) had the same zipper location but always required help from a friend to zip down.
Multiple pockets (4) on the front of the jacket are easily accessible for a camera or lens cloth. They are always dry inside.
The snow cuffs are new for me and took a short time to get accustomed to. The cuffs allow me to wear short gloves without worrying about snow flying up the sleeve.
The collar may look uncomfortable in pictures but it is very pliable and when it is zipped up, it is not noticeable. The collar provides excellent protection from the wind and snow. I really don't like wearing a balaclava and now I don't have to unless it's really cold on the trail ride in.
I would recommend this jacket to any of my friends. Shop around and you can find them on Ebay for under $120.
I've ordered Rekon bibs and can't wait to try them next.
