Just a caution for Ski Doo ETEC owners

I hit a small drift at the top of Bobtail Mountain near Prince George
The sled maybe went 5 feet in the air landing straight down in the snow
with no forward momentem and very little impact at all. The machine
continued to run roughly like a flooded engine would do.

While trying to ascertain what had happened I found that the in tank
fuel pump had broken . The high pressure nozzel exiting the fuel tank
had partially broken off and was allowing enough fuel to keep the engine
running and by doing so was allowing the high pressure pump to fill
the engine compartment with fuel. The cause was not obvious at the time
as you could not see the area of the break and the machine continued to run.
There was no way of fixing it out on the snow as the break was inside the tank.
The potential for fire was great
so I am passing this a long as a what happened to me.
The mechanics at Ski Doo in my neck of the woods had only seen one other sled
with this breakage and it had been in a high impact
collision on a destroyed machine.

Ski Doo seemed uninterested as the warranty had recently expired. It was a
700 dollar fix for me but I was lucky there was not explosion or fire
It was hard to believe after
viewing so many spectacular videos on utube that this little jump
could cause such damage. My great jump
was also captured on video,
not very impressive but true. I know I am setting myself up but this is
my 7th Ski Doo product so it's not a brand thing.
Just letting you know. It might save a life or at least a stranding as
there was no fix available out on the hill or wherever you might be

Same thing happen to me. Hit a rock broke the arm off and sled just bogged down like it was flooded. Got it back to the shop and found that the nipple broke off the fuel pump. What a shifty design. So beware all ski doo owners. My sled is a 2012 summit etech 800 rev xp.
