The manual one Team Doo Over has is good although I think Boggers sled is a tank as the lift bent a little when we were pounding it straight again. One of the long bottom rails bent up a little no doubt to our misuse.

so do you think it needs to be heavier steel ... i do know that the steel thinkness is the same as the mass produced ones from china

That was our general consenses yes. Always that fine line between strength and weight I guess. My neighbors a welder and I am just going to weld a strip along side the bottom rails for more strength. I'm also going to remove the hand crank we have and weld up something for the top of the crank to accept my half inch air drive to raise and lower. Probably just an old deep impact socket. I'll post a pick if you want when I'm done. Love the lift though this is just some fine tuning for our needs.:d:beer:

I bought a " Sled Jack" sled lift years ago. It is strong but needs some improvements. The designs I see on this site have a screw jack which is better and more safe than the boat winch system on the "Sled Jack" . Also it would be nice if the lift had "self centering" rear arms that locked into the tunnel when the sled is raised. Has anyone modified their lift to hold the sled better ? I need to mod mine because the lift bunk rests on the chain case guard. Any other suggestions

this thread was for the lifts i build... if you use a garge door seal the rubber on the bottom of door ... put some on where ever the sled touches... self centering i will have to think about that one... if it is resting on the chain case add some height to the front or the lrgs at the back ... drop me a line if you need some help...

I got a lift from p auto for xmas. I work on alot of sleds on my days off I found that it would even lift my 4 stroke, but now has stripped out the screw jack. Talked to p auto and they are replacing no problem. Here is a picture if that helps. Do you have any pics of your jacks? I am looking for a couple more due to 2 major turbo projects this summer.
