Just out of curiosity why do they split the skiing stats into 2 categories?

Kind of looks like to me 18 skier related calls! They didnt seperate "lost" from "crashes" with the sledders
Condolences also to those involved! Very sorry

In that case because the types of responses to out-of-bounds skiers and actual backcountry skiers are very different.

They used to track avalanche fatalities similarly but I think that was just to make sledders look worse back when it was full gongshow and virtually no sledders had training.
