My brother in law bought it off somebody from Fort Sask, it's a 2001 700 stretched with a 156, think it was an insurance job.

156" track

oldrxl'r, how does it handle the 156" track. I have a 1999 700 that my son rides that I want to make a bit longer. It's currently a 144" and I'm not sure it will handle the extra length?
Your Thoughts

I would think that a stock 700 would need super low gearing to turn a 156. I'm not sure how the flotation vs track speed exchange would work out; unless it was going on a lightweight mod.:dunno:

Not my sled, belongs to brother in law,I never rode it, my boy rode, looked like it was doin OK til he suck the ship, not sure what in it for gears, bin dropped and rolled with extravert drivers too.
I ride what's in my name = an old 92 RXL, 650 with 38mm carbs and 136" track.

K-Dawg how's it handle?

Shredder, I agree, the gearing would be low and the power might be a problem. I know lotsof guys that have run the 151 on the older 700's. I have a lead on a 156 but I think it's going to be too big.
oldrxl'r, thanks for your insight.

Has Anyone Else Put A 151" On A 99 RMK That Has Any Advise?

the sled rides like a dream goin up hills, but is a bi*** to turn when not carving or anything, but id only suggest longer track if you have the power. this 700 isnt stock.

700 long track

The sled my son runs has been updated. Shaved heads, Reeds and Twin Pipes.
I think it can handle the 151" track but would hate to be wrong after installing it.
We are riding in Golden this weekend so I'm going to spend some time on it and see how it feels for power with the current 144" track and then make a decision.

Thank for the feedback so far.

Hey Bigbunny

YOU GOTTA THINK ABOUT THIS: A 144" TRACK TO A 151" TRACK IS ONLY 7" LONGER........ ONLY 3.5" ACTUALLY DIFFERENCE ON THE GROUND:eek: , WON'T BE A PROBLEM AS LONG AS YOU GOT THOSE CLUTCHES SET-UP;) . ENGINE HAS LOTS OF OOOMPH. DON'T KNOW WHY YOU'RE SO WORRIED ABOUT IT?? WORST CASE IS YOU GEAR IT DOWN A TOOTH OR TWO.

I've got a 156 on my 700 Mountain Max. Pipes, reeds, geared down one tooth on top. No problems turning that track at all.

A buddy of mine put a 151X2" track on his '98 700 RMK with no engine mods whatsoever, I believe that he geared down a notch but that sled had no problem hauling his 240lbs around in the mountains. He rode the crap out of that sled for about 3500miles and sold it last year still running.
