So my good friend bent his handle bars on a 2009 M8 and we would like to change them. Is it a difficult job, are there any tricks to know, and how do you do it? We have an idea but any input would be appreciated.

Is he just replacing the bars alone, or is he buying every thing new and replacing it all?

1. have friend buy beer
2. have friend buy new bars
3. have friend put sled in garage and beer in fridge
4. down a beer
5. remove grips with air nozzle
6. down another beer
7. remove throttle setup
8. shotgun a beer
9. remove brake setup
10. congratulate yourself with 2 beer
11. start to remove bars from the mounting bracket
12. have friend buy more beer
13. make friend figure out the rest while you drink beer and poke fun at him

Thanks teamgreen for the 13 step method for replacement of handle bars. Part of the reason they were bent is because of beer so I think we will not try this method so we do not run the risk of bending something else.

Hmm well he would like to change just the bars, but I have also heard that if you are lucky enough to find bars with all cables and grips it can be easier but more expensive. Is this true?
