As the season winds down and i look back all in all it was a great year. Unfortunatly we lost some of our own to the snow again but thats not where iam going to today.
Had a couple of experiences with fellow sledders that makes me shake my head. Allen creek in mid jan, ran into a group of guys from loyd that i dont really know but have rode with on 4 or 5 occasions, friends of friends, you know the drill. one on a turbo m had blown a intake boot and was out for the weekend. I had a spare Cat in the trailer so i said"no problem head down rob one off my sled just replace it when you get home". Well guess what, Never heard from him again. Your welcome regan, your a class act.
Couple days ago i was riding with a couple guys i met in the parking lot as i was up a day before the rest of my crew. We dropped down the elevator on to the dixon lake when dan's sled started to give trouble. At the same time we ran into a couple guys sled boarding on the glacier, had lunch with these guys, shot the bs for a bit.as we worked on dans sled. When dan tried to go up the elevator his sled cut out and he had a wreck. Broken bars
, some carnage ect. We talked about a helicopter ect as to how to get this sled out. Well our new found buddy pipes up that he will SHOW us the Goat path out if we give him 200$????. I told him i know the path. His reply, well its 200 for them to help us. I told him it would cost him 200 bucks so i wouldnt beat the crap out of him when we got down to the parking lot. These two clowns got on their sleds and left.
Long story short, we did some rigging and rode the sled out ourselves
What is wrong with people? If anyone knows of a 40ish selfproclamied sled/ski guide from valemont who rides a older summit rev i would like to have a chat with him.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes scotts .My season for the most part was good, good, good and its not quite over yet. Over the past 5 months I have gotten myself into a few pickles. I must admit that I have found lots of help, support and advice from very unlikely people. I rode the magority of my season in McBride. A guy can't even stop on the trail to take a leak with out having some stranger stop to ask if you need help. I rode with alot of site members this year and it was all good. Thanks everybody.

I wrecked my sled in Fernie and we were past the Notch over 30 kms in and 2 Guys plus my crew of 4 helped us drag, roll, pull and fight to get my sled out, the track didnt even turn and they got a bit frustrated but thanks again to those boys I am not sure of their names. and I always make sure I return the favour! sorry to here about the bad few that are always around.

Iam definately going to try to get in a couple more rides, and have pretty much always found people to be great when others are in need, but this year i had to shake my head a few times.

I have to fully agree with you. What has the sleding community come to? I like to belive that people in whole are good natured. just think how that clown would feel if the shoe was on the other foot. Espesially claiming that he ran a local business. Its people of that nature that give everyone a bad name.

Ya i was so hoping we would come across him on the way out, I have never met this guy before and was taken back by his attitude as there are so many great people that live in vale and ride, Guys like vinny, tony, dave are people i have rode with over the years and was treated like family.
Guess its like this old guy told me once " it takes all kinds, but some of them arent that kind at all"

Any where there is snow
Did not get out as much as I wanted but got 3 good trips in to B.C.. Sleddin takes a back a back seat when you have a family member dealing with some serious health issues but things are starting to look better so I have all summer and fall to get ready for next season!!!!

Well I had a ton of bad luck this year and I always had a group of people right there willing and very able to help.Guys like Ron who towed my sled down the hill and friends like Perry who helped rigg things up so I could ride er out and most importantly a guy in Mcbride named Barry who did everything in his power to save my last weekend of riding including going off the hill and bringing me back parts and helping me fix it cause my only option was the whirlybird and lastly letting me ride his sled for a day while mine was down.Cant for get Rusty for doubling out of wineberger and letting me ride his sled out, being big finally paid off LOL!
Unfortunatly there are bad apples out there I just been lucky!
Was a alright year all in all!

Thats unfortuante about the guy wanting money to help you out, This was my first year ever riding in the mountains and first time back on a sled for about 6 years. I had a great time and don't regret buying another sled in any way, fortunately I had a buddy to ride with all the time that has 20+ yrs of sledding experience and would always look out for me or anyone in our groups and taught me how to ride different snow conditions. He would always help dig me out or anyone else who managed to turn a sled into a sub, and in turn we would help out or dig out anyone we found, except for that last sidehill session in Allen (I really wanted to get stuck haha). Long story short we all have to look out for another out there, it's not like a ski hill where you can always call snow patrol.

I've had a great year riding, but like Catmando I've had my share of problems...blew the motor etc.
I've been the guy giving out stuff this year.
A liter of oil to a guy in McBride...and no I wouldn't take money for it, a spark plug boot to a guy in Sicamous...and no I wouldn't take money for it and another boot to my buddy Cat900 in Trout Lake after a bit of a misshap in the trees and I would never take money from him.

It's all about helping your fellow rider. I can't believe they would ask for money to help rescue a fellow sledder. I wish you would have taken a photo of this smuck to post....now this is different than asking someone you don't know to go into the mountains and rescue a dead sled...on the hill we are a team...we pulled a blown motor out in Trout Lake this weekend, fellow rider, but we all worked hard to get r done.

Its funny how it all comes back...... I helped a group get un stuck in the wind tunnels. Later that day just by fluke the same group came across my busted sled. They all worked together and helped tow my sled down...

My mouth just about hit he floor then my anger hit the roof when this jerk asked for money to show me a trail ive known about for years. It was such a odd situation as i was riding with guys i had just met that morning in the gas station, we made a good time out of a bad situation in spite of the a holes of the world.
As for our oppertunistic buddy, Karma,s got patience. I ride about 10 trips a year, we,ll meet again.
