ITS A GOOD POLL, BUT RON SHOULD HAVE TURNED ON THE "MULTIPLE ANSWER" LEDGER, EG: I HAVE AN ORTOVOX AND AN SOS.......AND WILL HAVE A 3RD SOON. THIS POLL ONLY ALLOWS 1 ANSWER!!!!!!!! :nono:

I use a tracker; our spare is an SOS. The BCA Tracker is waaaay easier to use. My 7 year old son found the SOS out in yard no problem with the Tracker.

Pieps DSP and I will never get anything less than a 3 antenna beacon in the future. This unit is so accurate. I ended up getting 4 of them for wholesale price ($240 each) off ebay because the seller could not get me the original type (SOS F1ND) I planned on purchasing. I am glad I didn't choose to get my money back when he could not get the SOS. There is no chance of ghosts or spikes like the 1 and 2 antenna beacons, and there is even a 4th antenna on it to do a self check when it starts up. It has a battery percentage indicator on it, and can easily be used for multiple burial rescue.

I use a sos beacon with the Sled Bug feature, Instead of using the sled bug i use the Snow Bug transmitter, this unit runs on batteries which lasts 200+ hrs. The sled bug needs to hook up to sleds electrical sys. and will die in 1-3 hrs. You have to dig fast or start probing, highly overated in my opinion. SOS transceivers require you to be a little more hands on, have the longest range, enable you to tune right down to 1m .
I also have the bca transmitter for a spare, there always seems to be someone without a beacon, duh, with the bca learning time is short, point and go, until you get within 5m , Then your training will show.

Like Sex Ed " practice practice practice" as it's to late as the avalanche starts to roll, you and your buddy has 15 min for you to find him. if you pull out the manual, start blubbering, or running around like a maroon you may as well start planning funeral services and eulogy speeches.

Pieps has the best unit on the market at this time, a digital analog with a 90M range. Most digitals go to .5M reading for distance close in. Many features for multiple burial but you have to know how to use it and practice practice practice!!!

I use the BCA Tracker. I have run into too many people who just have them, but no clue as to how to use them. That's worse than not having one IMO. You have to learn how to use them and practice, practice, practice. I have been lucky as to not having to use mine yet. And the best beacon out there by far is the one that is used to find you in the hands of an experienced user.. period!

Good time to get familiar with your beacon. Summer is here, no excuses, put one in a bush and have buddies go looking for it. practice makes perfect, as usually no time in the winter. Have a good summer and get ready for next year
