Mine stayed fully inflated with zero give until we released the valve, likely would not provide any sort of air pocket if buried.

Our group did not wear air bags since they were not around back then, so to make up for not having them meant we parked in safe zones and stayed off hills that looked dangerous.
Follow the training in the avalanche course was what we had. Look out for traps, Take the time to do a test plot, and check snow pack weekly condition reports before heading out.

Even then, never under estimate what mother nature might throw at you at any time or where. 1 sledder on the hill at 1 time with spotter crew(s) parked in a safe zone away from run-out zone.

My kids and i all wear them. If i dont come home theres insurance if one of my kids doesn,t come home there's divorce,mmm not a tuff decision to spend the money. As doostylz said just do the math.

The original Snopulse were designed to slowly deflate after inflation with that scenario in mind, but the first update got rid of that. None of the new ones do. Not sure about the other brands.

Has anyone tried the Black Diamond Jetforce? Arc'Teryx is bringing an electric fan powered concept to market as well. I don't know how much I trust and electric fan and battery pack... sticking with my ABS for now.

Definitely not a substitute for snow smarts, rather a Hail Mary when **** has already gone south.

No such thing as a perfectly safe hill, you are constantly flirting with risk.

Take all the advantages you can get.

Lori from Zacs Tracs showed us an electric fan bag. It inflates just as fast as the canister kind, stays inflated as long as it senses movement ( ie still sliding or 2nd avy) and deflates after 3 mins of no movement to allow an air pocket.
Good idea but pretty pricey and almost as heavy empty as my 32L abs bag loaded.

I have been riding the High Mark Pro by Snowpulse for the past 3 seasons and I simply Love it!! I camp a lot in the winter with my wall tent and god knows I need to carry lots of stuffs for sometimes really long distances crossing lots of hazardous terrains and the Avy Bag is just not an option! The High Mark Pro is comfy, has lots of storage space and individual pockets to keep all my stuff organized. I will probably wear it out and buy the exact same one!
