I have AST level 1 certification from ZACSTRACS. Its more fun riding in the mountains when you know you can take care of yourself and your rider buddies. It goes over how to interpret the avalance bulletins, how to use your beacon properly, proper digging techniques, mountain survival and how to spot things you should avoid while in the mountains. Highly recommend

I have been to two classroom sessions and one specifically on beacon usage, but have yet to do the on site training. I plan on doing it this year. Where can I get info on who to contact/ price/ date on when i can get this training this year?

I also can't say enough good about their course. Excellent team.

AST 1 from Zacs as well. Lori's classroom day was very good, and the trigger point guys did a great job on the field day. Highly recommended.

Anywhere around the edmonton area for avy courses/mountain survival. Want to take my riding group to the same course so we can all help each other.

I have ast1 from hang fire training. And I was burried in a avalanche, me and there buddies a month and half after we took the course. Freak accident. If we wouldn't have taken the class we would not have known the proper way to dig and that two of our beacons could not either search or transmit. It saved the four of our lives. Get a course. I think everyone should have it. We are going to take ast2 this winter.

Zacs Tracs is working on their training schedule now but I can almost guarantee they will be in and around Edmonton a few times this year.

Just took AST 1 on March 2/3 with Frozen Pirate Snow services. It was absolutely the best money I've spent on sledding ever! It's an absolute MUST if your going to be in avalanche territory. We had to drive 9-10 hrs to get there so what's your excuse? Just do it.

I'm hoping to complete my AST II soon. I got my AST I a few years ago and it was a real eye opener.
