AST1 and 2 Booked! And to everyone saying "Hoping to take", or "planning on it" Book soon! I booked mine back in september and the 1st AST1 date was already full. If its the same here as it is where ever you guys live they fill up quick and theres only limited dates for them. The AST2 Only has 3 dates and the earliest isnt until January. If you dont get to take the Courses until March or April its not going to do you much good this season right?

Re-cert Field day with ZacsTracks Dec 22nd in Golden. Be interesting to see if there's a big difference in field days between that and Yamnuska. Other than being on a sled of course.

Some spots opened up for our AST 1 course in Golden Jan 12/13. It is dumping right now as well. Avalanche danger went from Low to High in a few days.
Spread the word if you know of folks in need of avalanche training!

Need to change my vote to AST1, did it in Mid January with Zac's. Can't believe how much more aware I am of conditions and risks now when I'm riding.

Glad to see the interest and experience. As an Avalanche Skills Trainer for the last 15 years I'm always interested in the level of interest and participation in formal training. Alek at the Peaks Lodge has invited me to run courses from there. I would like to set up a slightly different format. The AST 1 would be two days, day one 4 hour class and 4 hours on the mountain. Day two would also be a split between class and mountain. This is because people get pretty overwhelmed and glazed over during a full day in class. Time management would be excellent because we can sled from the Lodge. The courses would be offered on weekends. Everyone is welcome from everywhere. Alek will offer discount room rates for people that stay at the lodge taking the course and I will offer Peaks guests a discount as well. Course rates will be an industry average. I'm mostly concerned with sharing the knowledge and helping people enjoy themselves more. I've posted this lengthy note to ask if there would be any interest in this offering if we provide it. Obviously it's much better to provide something that you guys would be interested in.
Please respond.

Starting to look at booking my AST2 for next season. Considering Hangfire or Zacs Tracks, there is a price difference between the two, just wondering what other differences there might be? Anyone know?
