Yamy Phasers

On Sunday I saw two Phasers riding in the back of trucks but have not seen one in action. Just wondering if anyone has tried one out and would care to post their riding opinion on this light weight four stroke that seems to be getting so much attention?

One of the Guys in our club has one, he loves it, its a nifty looking machine, but I'm not a real fan of the front end of it. or the fact that there is no other way to start it but electric. Apparently Yamaha is selling them way better than originally expected.

New Machine

I have seen them, and thought it looks pretty good. Haven't heard much about them. I never knew there was no where for gas...

Saw one in Fernie this weekend. I don't like the front end either, but they sure are light machines. Lots of nice sleds out there but none as nice as the new snopro M10...just my opinion though

(well the Apex turbo is ok lol)

When we were in Mcbride there was a lady and her husband,she was riding a phazer and she said there not that great in powder,she did say she liked it.

Bought one for my wife.... I put about 60 K on it a couple of weeks ago in 3 to 4 ft of powder. It's a 80 hp sled....you have ride it to keep it moving up hill and pick your lines knowing how much power you have. It handles well.....very easy to turn. I holds 30 liters of gas and there is very little storage exept for the case on the back of the tunnel for a spare belt and a tool kit. It didn't seem to use much gas 1/4 of the tank in 60 K. Should have decent range with out packing gas.
Engine is smooth. It pulls hard off the line and will lift the ski's if it has traction.
It is a fun sled to ride. Just not a big hill climber.

Phaser

I think that sled looks trick. Wanted to hear from someone who has lady driver to see how she likes it as I wanted to get my wife one. Keep us updated on this cool looker if ya would. I spoke with that lady in Mcbride also and she seemed to like it alot, she did say it was quite tippy for what she was used to though. She also pointed out that you really have to ride it like moto-X bike to get the full effect due to the engine placement. Sounds like a blast, think I'll rent one for a day when I'm in Mcbride again and give er a wherl.

A friend of mine bought one for his wife. Found had to stiffen the frt springs for riding around home(flatlander). He is heading for Sicamous thurs to try it in the mountains. His backup sled is a apex. His wife really likes it so far.I rode it around his yard and seemed ok. Its place is for boondocking and playing in the snow it is not a hillclimber. Yamaha promoted this right as a play sled NOT a hillclimber.

Seen one in Revy two weeks ago on Boulder, we were in two to three feet of powder and the new owner was not impressed with it. He said it is not for climbing, but not bad for boondocking, if you can keep your feet on the sled as the running boards were all iced up, with nowhere to put your feet

, as he actually had to put his feet up on the hood and ride it down to the cabin and clean it all off as it was packed in hard and frozen stiff, looked like he was riding a bull

down the trail to the cabin.

Well I had a chance to ride one on Sunday...thanks to the Lovely Kim for letting me (and Gerald for trusting me).
Here is my take:
It cute as can be, a bit tippy. For a 200+ guy like myself there wasn't enough power, but for a young lady like Kim it pulled real well.
It sounds like a 4 stroke quad. Off the line is fairly quick and very nimble.
For a lighter weighted person who is looking for a great trail machine it's perfect. Can't comment on the deep snow part, but Kim will have it out in the mountains real soon and I wil get her feedback.
My wife would like it, my son, 17, wouldn't, not enough power.
So ther you go...it serves a specific purpose and I think it does it well. It's not for everyone, but a fan cooled sled isn't either.

i seen a phaser out in wasketna on saturday. That front end is looking wierd. it doesn't seem like it will go through a drifft to well

TALKING TO SLEDDERGLEN AND HE HEARD, YAMMY WAS GOING TO TURBOCHARGE IT NEXT YEAR FROM FACTORY..... WOULD BE WAY BETTER. I DROVE KIMMIES TOO, AND IT WAS NIMBLE. SLEDDERGLEN ALSO HEARD THEY MIGHT MAKE IT LIKE THE OLD "EXCITER" TYPE ENTRY, 1/2 WAY THROUGH THE YEAR, WITH A LITTLE BIGGER ENGINE(RUMORED THE 3 CYL 999CC ENGINE), AT ABOUT 120HP. THE NEW PHAZER TURNS ON A TIME, THOUGH. VERY SHARP/TIGHT TURNING RADIUS.
JUST MY TAKE ON THE SLED. I LIKE IT, BUT I LIKE MY 1000 BETTER.

A buddy was riding with a guy with a turboed phazer, and he said it would slightly outclimb a 07 Rev 800 144". Of course you have to take in consideration a whole bunch of stuff, but this is all he told me. (and he's a doo rider too)

Is that with the same person riding it?? Alot of the total performance is based also on the rider abilities as well as the machine.

Phaser Turbo

I'm hoping Razor Ray will hop on and place his own comments, but for now I will relate what he had to say.
Razor is a talented back country sledder and guide. He rode with a guy running a Phaser Turbo last weekend. Razor runs a RT1000 and hadn't been impressed with what he had read about the Phaser with a turbo.
Ray is often the highest on the "mark" and he doesn't like to get beat.
Ray went head to head with a 180 hp turbo Phazer and got beat.
Unfortuantely he wasn't able to ride it, but he was impressed with the sleds performance.
