Hey guys, i just got a garmin inreach. I went on a little trip to allen creek and i think its super cool how you can track routes and set waypoints. you can also map share with other people. My map share only has the 1 trip at allen creek so im sure it doesnt help many people. Hopefully we can get a bunch of map shares:cool:. Helps people that havent been anywhere new and sets the mind at ease if you have some gps. Hers mine! https://share.garmin.com/9RDSS PS to map share go to social in the garmin portal and email to yourself then copy paste Cheers friends:d

As much as I like my inReach, I don't use it for tracking. It is an emergency tool, a trip planning tool (at minimum a staging location tool), and a contact helpers tool if I find I'm in a jam.

There are other tracking devices out there that are free and very good at what they do. All are sharable, some probably better than others. I use Gaia GPS right now and it is great. Here is a screen shot of the last 3 days. When you look at the contours, my wife and I are true meadow muffins and off trail tree riders.

I can see in your track that the Garmin is only laying bread crumbs every couple minutes or so. Big gaps (straight lines) between them (the triangles). Here is GAIA app from a cell phone, a free app. Much more detailed with curved lines because it lays more frequent bread crumbs.

I use mine for tracking. I've shared maps with others.
Pretty sure there is a way to convert from that mapping file to a GPX file to share and download on another device.

I've converted them to GPX and sent to a friend of mine whether he was able to put it on his, i don't know. I never asked. Assumed it worked.

Last trip out. Buddies wife stayed at the room
And we was watching his tracks from town as we rode. She knew something happened when we were stopped of over an hour in one spot. Beacuse she asked as soon as we got back. Knew the time and everything.

I will say though, those waypoints / landmarks that are shown on your link are very detailed and excellent for navigation and communication. It would be helpful to get them for all areas.
