Anyone hear what's coming down the pipe from the manufacturers yet? Is it safe to assume Polaris might be bringing the Matryx platform to a lot more sleds? Any truth to Ski Doo with a new chassis? What about Arctic Cat and a new engine? Yamaha.... please tell me they are releasing their own clutching?

Also, does anyone know what the release dates are for all of them? Lets get the rumor mill rolling!

i dont expect to see anything other than BNG from all manufacturers this year. Polaris needs a short tunnel and id be astonished if they actually did that, they are going to need a few more years to come up with a factory turbo aswell

maybe we will see a 3 year warranty from skidoo on the turbos, but they really dont have the market push right now to release that

With Covid I think there will be minimal change by all manufacturers. Cat is reeling with money issues, Polaris may introduce their Matryx chassis in the mountain segment because its already developed and Doo will probably have new BNG and some new linq attachments. Yamaha will follow with new BNG as well. Thats what I think will happen year 2022 anyways.

you mean they are going to bring a trail specific chassis into the mountain segment? Interesting. I thought the current chassis was designed for mountains? oh wait, no it wasnt. Its an extended trail sled

What’s your point? All 4 manufacturers have been doing this for decades.

[h=4]FEATURES[/h][h=1]CAT'S 2-STROKE FUTURE[/h]Supertrax International
3/30/2020
BTN-BACK.png

Arctic Cat has been proving its commitment to the sno-mo-biz in MY 2021 with the intro of solid performing, all-new models and breaking into a new segment with the BLAST and its variants.

Frankly, we think Cat is as committed to the industry as it's ever been and intends to stay in the business for a long, long time.

Here's what we're speculating on: What does the 2-stroke future look like at AC?

Although Cat leads the industry in the power department with the Thundercat, its meat and potatoes product line is its 2-strokes – specifically its biggest inch 2-stroke, the new SDI 800 twin. This engine finds a home in so many different types of Arctic Cats - Trail, Crossover, Mountain – even Utility – that it provides a significant allotment of the company’s sales.

It's no secret, although the 800 CTEC2 is a very powerful and fast 160-ish-horsepower engine, Ski-Doo and Polaris are both offering 850s. That sizzle factor alone - more displacement - is something the engineers at Cat have to deal with, and so do their dealers in the showroom wars.

We have zero doubt Cat is working – right while I'm writing this - on a larger version of the 800. Could it be a new 850 to be introduced in MY 2022? Dunno – but here's what I’m thinking and the more I mull it over, the more I could see it happening.

We would not be surprised if Cat completely hurdled over the 850 2-stroke fence and introduced a new 900 twin. Yes, Cat already offered a Suzuki-built 900 twin almost two decades ago – and it was very successful.

It's a different day now, though, and 2-stroke engines are much more refined and way more technical. Using nice clean, lean Semi-Direct Injection tech and all the balance refinements of new big-inch engines, a Cat 900 could be a homerun.

It would immediately grab the attention of the market and put the company a giant leap ahead of the competition. Cat would instantly go to the front of the bus!

A 900cc SDI 2-stroke could make power in the 170-plus range, be EPA certifiable and blow the socks off the lake racing public.

My guess is, if this were to come true, Cat would take the same route Polaris did by offering both the new 900 and the current 800 in the same models. Even the high performance market has some limitations and, depending on pricing, those shoppers may feel the 800 is more than sufficient for them.

We like this theory - and it's purely speculative at this time, but wouldn't it be an exciting development?

We think it makes a lot more sense than coming with a me-too 850!

Polaris has all their patents filled for the factory turbo, pretty similar setup to skidoo. Not sure if it will hit the snow in 22. But it's on it's way.

I wanna see a 250hp factory sidewinder MTX that sits about 50lbs lighter. Boosted axys/matryx would be sweet but I still feel its a pipe dream, probably matryx rmk this year I assume, the display is friggin cool on that thing BTW. I'd love to see Cat with a new chassis jus to get competition back in the market. And from doo.... maybe a tweaked long tracked 900ace putting out some serious power to blow the stickers off their own boosted 2-stroke

So if kitty kat makes a 900 2 stroke maybe Doo will E-Tec the 1000 ? They already have the tooling. Dunno

If Cat comes out with a 900 then all Doo has to do is crank up the boost by another pound on the Turbo and just like that they stay at the front of the bus! I bet that even if they came out with a "Race Turbo" version with 2 lbs more boost and 1 year warranty there would be a long line up of buyers.

cant see that happening, they could literally turn up the boost 0.5 psi and get much better gains than a 1000
remember the 4 manufactures must offer some kind of a warranty ... Jay mantaberry is buzzing around wit no warranty and if ya up the boost by .5 psi your now outside stock parameter s of the the stock 850 motor 165 hp... 125 + 44 psi hp =169 hp at 8000 ft WaRRanTY ?? No worries.. ALoHa !!... Stock 900 / turbo 170 hp... 129.2 + 40 psi hp= 169.2 hp at 8000 FT ... Stock 950 / turbo 175 hp... 133 + 40 psi hp = 173 hp at 8000 FT... Stock 975 / turbo 177.5 hp 135 + 40 psi hp = 175 hp at 8000 FT... Stock 1000 / turbo 180 hp... 137 + 40 psi hp = 177 hp at 8000 FT... all hp numbers r within warranty parameters and running a size 8 turbo with size 5 housing with a ratio of 1.6 which ski Doo seT as the standard for balance and volumetric efficiency in a stock 2 stroKe moTor... ALoHa !!!... Question now should be .. What is the weight to power ratios of The last 4 scenarios aboVe... But we don't know the weights of the 4 sleds with there respected motors ... This would Tell us where the gain s would be ... onikK !e! onikK !! Wonder what the ski - Doo RT 1000 2 stroke weighted back in the daY ?? beeP !! beeP !! If your looking for warranTY from the manufactures on a 2 stroke turbo motor the only option is to increase the CC noT the boosT as this variable of compensating 40 hp will now staY the same up to 8000 FT ... KooLBeaNs !!

Yep, there is so much potential for the power of the doo turbo. We dont need another heavy vibrating pig like a 1000 twin.
Another 10 HP would possibly be at the fuel limit with the doo turbo with the current head and engine setup. I personally do not think this 2021 doo turbo is 165.
