Just my theory, people buy sleds they intend to use, end up not using them but they normally depreciate so much year to year that you're better off keeping it with the intention if using it next season
Now all of sudden they're worth a stupid amount used, sometimes more than you originally paid. Why not throw it up for sale and see what happens

Is there any decent snow anywhere? Would suck to pay top dollar for a sled, and then not be able to use it because of lack of snow or communist shut downs

Ya that’s the catch , bunch of the younger guys I ride with bought turbos and a few that bought regular doos and poos, local dealer is sold out completely and not much snow . Cheap turbos after the new year. My prediction

The snow always comes in in the mountains some years are better than others. I could see the market staying hot until March when the fire sales start. Historically I believe sleds drop 2-3k per year km dependant. It does feel funny to be able to ride a machine for part of year and dump it for more than you paid. Undersupply and super high demand is a rare thing historically in sled market.

This is 100% my case. I bought a new mountain sleigh in 15. A non current 14 actually. I have and had plans on keeping it forever sorta thing. It currently has 1500km on it. Since I bought the darn thing, we’ve had next to no snow locally each winter, and it depreciated quicker than I payed it off so I just held on to it. Ideally I would have like to have sold it and bought a touring sleigh or cross country unit to be more user friendly around here with family and kids.

I'm not so sure that the market will crash and burn in the next 6 months like many are speculating. The main reason used snowmobiles have been depressed price wise is that there has always been a fairly good selection of new, non current models bridging the gap between new and used. We also don't know if machines are actually selling and more importantly, the sale price.

I can definitely tell you that things are selling, sold both my sleds and sxs in 2 days, all 3 sight unseen and they paid cash money, no dickering on price either. I definitely got good dollar as well and all 3 units went to buyers out of province.

Tales from Kijiji....

Decided with current conditions, we should post a few more toboggans for sale.

Posted them last week. Thought my prices may have been slightly optimistic, but still fair compared to what else is out there.

Machine #1 had 12 inquiries in less than 30 mins.

Machine #2 had 15 in the first hour.

Machine #1 sold in 14 mins for $100 above asking. I didn't ask for more, just got an offer than stated "list + $100"

Machine #2 sold in 55 mins for asking.

Since selling, I've had 3 people continue to message me and ask me if the one machine is still available. One fella asked me what would it take for me to pull the parachute on the buyer who sent me a deposit - $750 extra? $1000 extra?

This is absolutely nuts...I wish all my stuff sold this painlessly.

from the look at the first picture it looks like the right ski is farther back than the left one? I hope the guy gets asking price. That tells me that there are some incrediable stupid people out there.

I think its just the angle it was shot at Lucky. Nobody in their right mind would buy that sled if the ski was actually laid back that much. And especially for that kind of coin.

No. The best we ever did was we were able to sell the first RT1000's for full profit because they were limited build and everyone wanted one. That lasted one year as they weren't as good as we thought they would be. Too heavy.

Ya in 05 rode a few, I had a 05 800 159 and some friends had the 1000 was better in a straight climb everywhere else it sucked in comparison
