So who was in the avalanche this weekend?
From the video it sounded like guys playing in or below the airport chutes and someone above triggered it?
Looked like all brand new turbo doos.
Did you send a report to avy Canada? Still don't see one. Did you know the spooky conditions before heading in there?

RXN posted the video that he found on Facebook with a title that said “seen this video on Facebook” but for what ever reason it has been taken down and can no longer be seen. Maybe RXN will have some information about who the guys were that were involved.

Whoa! I don't think we need to throw them under the bus until we hear their story. Technically there is potential avalanche paths everywhere in the mountains based on conditions.

It looked to me like it was the hill beside the first Airport Chute not the actual chute itself. I don't think there is enough information in the video to get the lynch mob going yet....

Not throwing anyone under the bus, was just asking a question,.. kind of like. "So, you jaywalked and got hit by a car? Technically you can get hit anywhere while on the street,.. but better if you just staying on the sidewalk.

Part time locals, above average backcountry guys, would be the first to come save your ass on a search call. Not attacking chutes, riding along on a mellow portion of some consequential terrain above that stepped down. There is a PWL we are facing at the moment. Late October/Early November layer will be a problem for the next month or so....probably longer. Ive never seen that face so bare in 30 years of boulder riding.

there was another one half way back to turbo that slid fairly large also. same facing slope and slid to the rocks. dont think anyone triggered it.

X2 on what Randy is saying. There is 2 layers that are now buried that are going to be high consequence for awhile. Be careful and ride safe.

The one thing I can really take away from that video is the color of the guys's helmet - it's bright and stands out really well. If I had a white helmet, he sure wouldn't be as easy to find. Will be something I consider in my next gear purchase.

Close call for sure, not sure why they were still sitting in the danger zone chit chatting.
Not criticizing just an observation, would like to hear from the people involved.
We need more reporting on these incidents to learn from.

when I first got into mountain sledding I bought my coat and bibs in black and a white helmet. It all seemed to match my black sled really well (you know cause I wanted to look cool lmfao). It took one trip out trying to spot a guy stuck on a face that was also wearing black and I knew it was all wrong. My coat is now orange, avy vest is hi vis green and the helmet is hi vis green. I want you to spot me if sheet goes down.

I agree 100%. I have a buddy that wears a bright orange helmet and it’s amazing how much easier he is to spot. But was it his helmet or his Avy pack bladder?

Bang on. Every hill has the potential. Jus depends if someone hits the button or not. Lotta folks riding around oblivious to the exposure their in. Chit happens carry on.
