Never lost maps app

Thinking of downloading this app for sledding. Would like to explore some new territory. I have an IPhone 10 pro. Just wondering if anyone has experiences with the maps. Do I need service on my phone for it to work. Is it worth it thanks

IMHO, download an App that uses satellite service. If you are like me, a lot of sledding and exploring are out of cell service. I use Gaia GPS. A free app and it works great. They also have a premium app that I want to find out more about this winter. There was a thread on this a little earlier. I will see what I can find.
