Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
Ive seen Brody beat on the 850T, I didn’t even see him blow a belt on his personal sled yet this past year.

You know you want one, dont be a closet hater.

To be honest, I do want one. The steady 165hp would work excellent the way I clutch and gear.

The stock gear case will accept an 80tooth belt drive bottom gear. I have one so that’s cool. With a 22, 23 or 24 top gear, 6x3.5 drivers, the ratios are about 4.09, 3.91, 3.75. 52mph, 55 and 58mph respectively at lockout, 15% overdrive, 8400rpm. Don’t worry about power loss above 7900. It’s still gaining speed.
That combo, with the right secondary, would shift seamlessly into overdrive and fully shift out. The rpm would climb, gaining a mph or more per 100rpm over the 7950rpm. Prolly have to get the rpm limits moved a bit higher from a sketchy company.

I would put a Cat style clutch with skidoo splines.

There would be sooooo much left on the table in stock form.

Having said that, around 5500ft+ is where the poorly maintained clutches show their their ugly head. Na engines seem to start to struggle around that elevation so to have more engine power available where na sleds are losing Hp is kinda like a two fold bonus. The dirty clutches combined with less power compared to new turbo Doo, new clutches and 165hp will seem like a top fuel race car but in the mountains. That’s why Maxwell shoots goo all over when he thinks about Turbo Doos.

It could gain 15% more efficiency with a different secondary and another 15% reduction in clutch loading through gearing down. Once the clutches are locked out, there is no more efficiency lost by the weights fighting the primary spring or the secondary compressing the secondary spring. Hang on! It would be zippy and haul axe. There wouldn’t be that much to do really.

Belt drive,
New secondary shaft
New secondary. Done!
I think it would beat 70% of aftermarket 2 stroke me turbos. Maxwell would change his last name to Bombardier for sure! Haha

Oler1234, i was going to comment yesterday that there are a couple of 6 and 7 yrs old XM's in our group and a 3 yr old Alpha that would do ok in the "extreme riding" condition trying to follow the all might polaris

A factory turbo 2 stroke with that much engine management technology has never existed. FACT. There is not one other turbo 2 stroke with the run ability of this Factory 2 stroke turbo. FACT.

SKi-Doo's claim to fame: "A factory turbo 2 stroke with that much engine management technology has never existed. FACT. There is not one other turbo 2 stroke with the run ability of this Factory 2 stroke turbo. FACT."

Polaris's claim to fame: "FACT. I beat a T850 FACT."

Which is the better claim? I do not discount your claim, only I also don't care about it too much either.

Ya I’m not surprised your lighter Polaris beat the T850 at 4000ft especially being a 174. Come play with the big boys in the deep stuff at 7000ft and we’ll talk again.

I kinda agree with you but I will say I think BRP did spend some time on clutching the T850 as it is way better than the N/A 850's. I guess it is easier to clutch for fixed HP than varying levels of power so maybe they got that right? And for those who will tweak the T850's for more power then yes it should rip. Only question is will it make it unreliable or will you be able to retain any kind of warranty??

We do ride to 7000' but the T850 in our group has not shone yet as the rider is still getting used to it. Next year there will be a second in our group with a more capable rider so we will see. I will not be upset if the turbos dominate as they darn will better for the price they come in at. I did ride it and rather liked the power band only rarely could use it in the trees where we ride mostly.

I heard the intakes are plastic and will pop if pushed much past the 4 psi range. Now if you want to change out everything maybe you should just start with an aftermarket kit?

Only difference in the NA clutching and the turbo clutching is flyweights and the secondary spring. We were putting that secondary spring in the NA in 2017.

I heard a lot, doesn't mean its the truth....

Plastic intakes on other engines are taking pretty big PSI these days...

yes next season will be the tell tale as so many will be on the snow a full season. and you can bet you will see blown belts, blown engines and you can bet your bottom dollar it will be blown up and out of proportion on social media and snow and mud haha. Its just probability and sheer numbers. What i am impressed with so far though is there is thousands of these running around with 2000+km in a very short time with next to no issues. 2000km is more than some guys will put on these new turbos in 5 years so i think so far so good. Well see. i will be here, defending my team. LOL

I will say rode a day with 2 of the turbos and they seemed to work good, and those units had no issues for the season. imo doo has made a great machine here which will change the industry . yes i'm on the doo team

I think the Turbo Doo will do just fine next year. The g4 chassis bugs are worked out as best they can. Any chassis issues there will be a solution. If any turbo issues, they would be keen to solve them ASAP. Kanedog(kd) sez it will be good. And if Kd sez it’s good, it’s good! Haha
