I was told that trees will not live at anything over 7600ft. Never argued the point till I rode in Colorado with the Doo engineering group at 13,000 ft and had to dodge trees all day?

that would be 4 jet changes high. LOL

Interesting fact. I run 41.7 mm rack Mikunis and smaller mains than a Ptec. This clearly show why you had to Jet so much back in the day. Why because the manufacture didn't have a clue. On my Mach Z with filters I was running 9 sizes smaller than Ski Doo recommended. So no I don't jet in the mountains. Having said that all EFI sleds should run a fuel controller so you can lean them out for better performance. You would enjoy your new sled a lot more.

I did put a pipe on my sled, but I also put a wideband and a boondocker. It was very surprising how much fuel I have actually taken away. The sled ran fine rich, you would never know it other than it burned a lot of fuel. Leaning it out to what my engine likes (no two engines are the same) made a huge difference in fuel consumption and throttle response. I agree that every sled could use tuning if you know what you are doing. I am going to put a boondocker and wideband on a friends stock 800 sks just to see what improvements can be made. That sled leaves black streaks, and I feel I can solve that. SO THAT IT WILL RUN BETTER AT 8000FT.

All jetting charts from Doo were designed for jet at certain altitude at -20 degrees. Thats where the jetting needed tuning. Not many mountain guys ride in that weather. Flatlanders are different story

DPM came out in 1997 i never had to jet a sled LOL

you left alot on the table then, you drop the mains in those 3-5 sizes easy, those things were pig rich.
LEANER MEANS BETTER AT 8000FT

I'm sure they had all elevations and temperature ranges.
