Looking for updates on what T850 you are going to snow check and why?

Having trouble deciding and my choice seems to change daily... Freeride turbo 165 would be perfect if I could come up with an idea to keep the inevitable black exhaust marks away which will make it look trashed after one season. Maybe 3M film? I like my Expert so if I go the Expert turbo route at least a black belly pan is an option with the Red/Grey/Black or just go all black to match my truck? If going Expert turbo then the 175 track option comes into play as I'm only getting older, don't have a six pack (unless you count what's in the fridge), and so far suck at re-entries, bow-ties, and most hop overs. Thinking the 175 would help keep the front end down a little more? I do like pounding up creeks, through relatively tight tress and finding our way into new zones which can sometimes involve some good climbs. To save the flamers some time I know these are first world problems, I know there are higher hp aftermarket turbos (been there, done that), and I know a NA sled is lighter as are other brands... but I like the "Chuff Chuff" sound and refuse to not have SHOT!

i think the 175 turbo would be perfect for you.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot as well Jim. I think the experts is the better deal. And as you know I’m a Freeride fanboy. Especially if you can convince your dealer to give you a sweetheart deal on some fox shocks. If not ride it stock. As far as track length, how’d you like this years ride vs last year. Better snow this year and you had a shorter track, did you miss it enough to justify the small loss in nimbleness of a 175”?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot as well Jim. I think the experts is the better deal. And as you know I’m a Freeride fanboy. Better snow this year and you had a shorter track, did you miss it enough to justify the small loss in nimbleness of a 175”?
Definitely liked the ride of the Expert this year, just thinking that with the narrower diameter bars, smaller seat (vs 2019 X175), and the cut down tunnel maybe the 175 would be pretty close in handling and the reduced wheelie tendency on the turbo would be worth it?

I think the freeride is a wicked sled. If your concerned about the black, your black skid plate idea is a good one, it may give a good contrast as well.

The 175 on the other had is another great choice, if you like to tractor around in the trees, etc.

Im still a fan of the 165, and really like the look of the all black x.

I hear ya, some of the lines a guy rides are really steep and tree'd. Where you are unable to cut sideways and angle up to take the steepness out of the hill. Ive been wondering if the turbo Expert would just come over backwards on those lines. Im sure the pro's are fine but im certainly no pro.

I snow checked the 850 Turbo Expert 165x3, Black with grey hood after having a white sled I would highly recommend staying away from the grey, if they had the same colors available In the freeride I would of considered it. My sled is wrapped but black shows up where ever the wrap is not covering the white, inside the side panels was once white now is smeared black, wont do that again.

I think it's the type of riding you are wanting to do, some like the skis in the air, and some not, but what I have seen so far with my long tunnels it does not hinder me in the steep and deep where I try in ride and knowing it acts like a protection wheel bar, is a bonus I want if things do go south.. but a properly calibrated skid is first priority for your style of ride

Have a feeling the tunnel exstenions could be comming back for a few folks

Sorry for posting here. Just lots of people on here ride where I ride (vale) and never know what’s considered “tight and technical”

Km7 can be tight in spots but I wouldn’t consider it that technical it’s fairly mellow terrain. I can’t figure out exactly where your talking about In clemina do you have a photo or coordinate?

We did the km 7 last weekend in Alan, for what we seen on it, it would be considered minor, I actually thought it was a short cut between rd.. one rider with limited ability and at end of day did that just fine, much steeper and technical terrain than that I would say

As you come off the trail head to the right over the ridge towards the creek crossing . You can go in between the back of the ridge and the creek and it gets very tight the further you go. You keep going down and you can eventually get over the creek and there’s a straight pull and you will end up in the lake view area.
