Gonna run my old 2013 xm until I see how much I’m getting out before I upgrade to something bigger and better. Had ferniesnows G4 and definitely one of the funnest sleds I have been on. Little nervous about buying another used one and getting a lemon. Seems to be some smoking deals on 18 and 19 cats and they seem to be getting outstanding reviews.

I went from a xp to a Pro. I can switch between poo and cat no problem, the same can't be said for getting back on a Doo. I will warn you if you have been on a doo for a long time a cat can feel very different. Doo has different steering geometry and weight distribution. It took me a while to get used to poo/cat chassis and now have no instinct to ride a Doo properly any more. I would say ride one a good day or two before you make the change and see if you like it.

It could be rider preference, but the axys chassis I found to have the least confidence on.

I felt right at home on a alpha with no previous seat time on it, I preferred it over the mtn cat as well.

Yeah that’s interesting to hear because I really like the doo chassis but absolutely hated the pro. Haven’t been on an axys or 850

the newer polaris feels similar to a XM. To get the polaris to be the same as a XM it wouldn't take much honestly. I didn't mind the polaris, if purchasing these days with budget as my number one consideration I would get a polaris. in the used market they seem to sell for less than a skidoo.

the 850 has a different feel all together IMO.

850 poo's are going for big bucks used but some deals on 800's and 2017-18 cats for sure. Alpha deals are few and far between. Some deals on 17 G4's but feel like you're really rolling the dice on them. Low km 18/19 G4's guys are looking for lots of $ still.

since 2017 I’ve had xms. Axys 800 Gen 4 850’s. Last season I went back to green I’m back on two cats. High country and an alpha. I had the best season even. No belts. Little oil. 1000’s of km with Just fond sled memories

I had a xp to xm to G4 and am now on a 18 mountian cat 162 and have had no regrets so far ! Theres something about going up into the steep and deep and being comfident in my machine to bring me back home ! I did not have that feeling on my g4, its a fun sled but the clutch heat is enough to steer me away and keep me away, yes I had a couple belts blow on my g4 and I just hated the fact that I had to worry about a belt blowing when Im doing a pull up a slope or just going hard in the deep pow! The 18 mountian cat took me about 3 good rides to get used too but now i find this macnine more predictable and easier to ride than my g4 and I am on my orginal belt with 600 kms on it and what a diffferance with how much less clutch heat the 18 mountian cat puts out compared to the g4, makes me wonder why ski doo cant make something like this instead of throughing blow holes, vents and finned sheaves to get rid of heat! Why not just make a clutch setup that produces less heat ? Just my opinion !

I also went to an 18 mountain cat last year for two main reasons I watched my buddy bag the hell out of his no matter how sticky or deep snow and you pull off that side panel and clutches were reasonable. The other thing is the quick adjustable shocks all around that sled are unreal lock out rear skid keep your skis down in the deep and then soften it up for the dreaded whooped out trail. I never thought I would be back on stock two stroke but it’s sure fun to ride.
