Helmet lights

What are you all using these days (or nights)? I'm looking for something that small, bright, and last more than a couple of hours on a single charge.

Mountain bike lights. There are too many to count and too many options for mounting and style to even begin. Good place to look is MEC, I'd suggest bringing your helmet and trying different lights until the mounting system works well with yours. I have two different lights from a company called Light & Motion. Sample shot below of one of the many ways I can set up a light on my brain bucket.

Don’t suggest MEC. The company does nothing for for us, and actually lobbies against out sport.

Haven't heard. Also, as someone who does more than just ride sleds, I don't mind them as a company. Very easy to deal with with respect to ordering / warranty / returns, etc.

Ya I got a lead dog helmet light

One thing about it compared to all the others, is has rear red light and it's a incondesant bulb, which gets warm and can warm hands ect off it

The last sar call out I was on, the lead sar guy said it was easy to follow me at a distance with the red light showing

The lead dog sucks for anything besides riding. Since it powers off the sled it doesn't work for sled repairs, stucks, walking etc unless the sled has a battery. I use a frankensled but battery life might not meet your requirements I carry a 2nd battery. One of the better ones I've seen is the Tusk it's bright as hell and has good battery life since it's a battery pack and not built into the light.

My vote is for frankensled light. Had it for a couple years and they are incredibly bright and use a go pro mount.

Have both a Lead dog and a Mountain Lab X1000 Flashlight both have there place, Lead dog is nice because it is powered off of the sled ( no dead battery ) and if you have electric start they will stay on if you shut off the sled, down side is they have a cord,, Mountain Lab light is good It has 3 power levels ( brightness ) and a flash mode for emergencies ( or for a disco, Your choice) but it has a battery to go dead.
Both have good range, On clear nights Mountain lab being led you can see farther but if it is snowing heavily it creates what I would call a wall of snow and you cant see much distance, Lead dog is halogen and will penetrate the snow better ( you can get lead dog in Halogen and Led)
Once you have a helmet light you will never want to go without one

I’ve been thinking about a good helmet light. We came out from kakwa late once already this year and when I went to grab my headlamp it was dead. A real pain.

I found the Frankensled handy but not near enough light for riding hard. I still pack it though as a spare

I picked up the Tusk Racing Kit with 2 lights and 4 batteries

So much brighter and haven’t run two lights at a time yet.

Frankensled is ok to to get home in the dark, the Tusk is excellent for real night riding in deep snow

I tried different knock off lights for cheap off amazon but ended up with crappy batteries and the one that really blasted (5000 claimed lumens) both ends of the power cable snapped off in -8 weather

ive got a tusk for sale if anyone wants it, dual lights, 4 batteries , two chargers , new in box. 225 would take it. was 270 new

Anyone have a link to a alibaba mount for a standard 1000 lumen 18650 LED flashlight, to mount the flashlight to a gopro helmet mount? There's gotta be something that does this for cheap.
