In them hills.
Been in the mountains for about 15 yrs and we haven't needed sar yet but I would write a chq for a 1000 or more to help this group of people that risk so much for us. We do carry a lot of extra gear to make sure we can get out plus we have helped lots of other groups, but there are alot of great peaple I have met that will stop by and help if needed.
Knock on some wood quickly.

The mountain does not care who you are or how experienced you are.

Agreed! Hard to believe I could stop at a restaurant and have a sandwich and a beer for lunch and head out in my truck legally but if I were to swing into a staging area after said lunch and unload my sled off the deck that I would then be braking the law. At what point is it considered infringement on our rights?

Not trying to say that riding drunk is acceptable at all, but I do believe that there has to be some limit on what the police can and can not tell us to do before crossing into our rights.

Would like to see the legislation that actually says zero tolerance on a snowmobile. I call BS.

Years ago I read an article where the scientists determined the Earth has flipped on its axis at least twice that they can determine and have no idea why. Just like they can't determine now why all of a sudden its moving quicker, it could flip as quick as snapping your fingers and we would all likely be dead so it will likely end any need to worry about SAR or truck payments.

Well another weekend in the back country and more stories to add to this post. We get up into the alpine and all of a sudden we have an extra rider with us. Guy has lost his buddies in the parking lot. Realized they have gone to another area. Asks if he can join us. Sure we don’t care. Seems like a decent rider and has proper gear (we thought). Ride all afternoon and it’s time to start heading out. We get to the top of the first pull and no sign of buddy. We radio him and go up and down for an hour thinking the worst. Getting dark and starting to snow and he calls us from someone’s long range radio because he has a Walmart special. He joined another group and was making his way out. SERIOUSLY!!!! We just spent an hour looking for this tool. Then to top it off we get most of the way out and here’s buddy with his now 3rd group and they are smoking pot having a great time. Unbelievable. These people are everywhere.

Sounds like the guy that asked to join us at the Boulder cabin last year when we were signing in. Was by himself and asked if we minded letting him join us. We said sure. Half way through the day he disappeared. We doubled back looking for him and couldn't find him. While looking we ran into a customer of mine. Asked if he seen him. Yep he decided to join up with another crew that was going back to turbo in the fog. Never even told us. What a tool.

Well he did say he rode at Revy. I hate to say never again but I am asking a lot more questions next time. I don’t need to be playing around looking for some guy in the dark. No common sense.
