Having the capacitor instead of the battery which has been a complaint of the recharging systems should hopefully be heading in the right direction.

What is the purpose of the external shovel bag that i seem to see popping up so often? My BCA bag has an 'internal' pocket for my shovel, handle and probe, can't see why that is a deal breaker.

BCA prefers to keep it inside. The theory is an external shovel could hold snow and not allow the bag to function as well.
With more a d more people carrying a second shovel on their sled the one in your bag becomes purely a backup should you ever remove your pack.

My wifes BCA pack has internal shovel carry which basically takes up the whole bag, (float 8) leaving almost zero room for anything else you want in your pack. dumb setup, why not have the shovel on the outside and have room to carry what you want

Well buy a 8 litre pack and expect significant storage isn’t exactly thinking things through.
Get a 25 litre pack. I know I was able to add an external shovel holder from BCA for my last mtn Pro vest. Never used it though.

Again, i get that. I have seen several people on this forum reference that their bag NEEDS to have an external shovel holder, why is that so important, that is what i am asking. See throttleops post above for reference.

The 8 stands for 8 liters of storage. So its not hard to believe that its too small.

I've never posted about it but external shovel storage is important for me to save room in the bag for survival gear or if in a companion rescue situation I am going straight from beacon searching to shoveling I can have a group member pull my shovel out while someone else is probing saving the time of taking my vest off and putting back on. And yes I want the avy vest back on if we are still in a high risk area.

Understandable. It's a rare day when i remove my bag, so in a rescue situation i can see how it's easier to have a riding partner grab your rescue equipment if it was visible.

Left handed throttles give you have twice the power if you squeeze both throttles at the same time.

It's not a need that's for sure but solely personal preference. I've had both styles and definitely prefer having the shovel on the outside in its own holder and not taking up room inside the bag. Again personal preference

I don't like the idea of putting a wet/snow covered shovel inside my pack(s). Doesn't matter if it is in a tunnel bag or a back pack. I'm with throttleops, outside is good.

I guess you never get stuck? Or never use your shovel?
I find it odd that a shovel wouldn't have snow on it if it was used.
