If there is a sign in the cabin that is easily visible, it is not difficult to enforce by anyone. Generally you don't need to make a scene, the last time i dealt with it i simply pointed at the sign and said loudly. "NO SMOKING IN THE CABIN PLEASE" the individual's looked up and slowly worked their way out. They had no clue who i was, as far as they knew i could had been cop or club management. Anyone can do it and other's will support you in these situation.

Good rant Catman10, i feel the exact same and yes i have literally told 4 dudes to take it out side at the Owls Head cabin in Sicamous last season and on another occasion told a guy to pickup his garbage at Blue lake. I have no problem telling ANYONE to get their **** together in their face.....that is what happen's when you do 2 tour's in Bosnia and one in Cypress, no joker on a sled doping up or just being an arse even compares to a Croate with an AK. So i can get a little grumpy and very anal about someone upsetting my otherwise awesome day.

Thank you for your service.. only takes a few arseholes to screw it up for everyone. Garbage on the hill is a big one for me.. picked up everything beer cans to belts. Even pulled a ripped track out of the bush at Clemina in Valemount once. Absolutely brutal the stuff people leave on the mountain..

As for smoking dope, take it outside. What’s the big deal.

I asked some disrespectful d**khead last year in sicamous if he could read As He was smoking right under the sigh. While the cabin was full of random ppl. He knew he was in the wrong and I was right and went outside. The clubs work hard to keep the shelters going sad that ppl don’t respect them. I think 9 out of 10 times if confronted they will go outside.

Littering drives me up the wall. I also stop lots and pick up other ppls crap. I explore bc in the summer time it’s pretty sad the winter garbage u see on the trails/ alpine. This was my own track but could not leave it behind. it was a funny site that day. Over 500 pounds of ppl and gear on a 155 pro trying to back to the truck while pulling the track. Good thing we were only at the airport.

Just speak up when you see that crap. For the most part everyone else in the cabin is thinking the same thing you are but afraid it will cause a scene. It starts getting stickier when it's just you and a buddy but there's 5 of them smoking but all you can do is speak up and if it escalates then you need to decide what you want to do.

The problem seems to have escalated with legalization and that is disappointing. There are signs posted in the cabins, no foul language, no alcohol and no drugs. The cabins are there for everyone`s enjoyment.
We do have a supervisor this yr. that will be going up maintaining cabins/washrooms, groomer operators are on are the hills 3 afternoons a week, we will ask them all to add babysitting to their duties.
Pretty tough to ask our busy RCMP members to ride up to the cabins to maybe catch someone. I can tell you there are random check points set up on Westside Rd. throughout the season.
As RSC members those cabins are yours too, maybe we can all step up and police the problem ourselves.
I will bring this to our boards attention.

I would never want to cause sar to be used in that way. Maybe not the best idea. sorry but smoking in the cabins is way off side.

That is very disrespectful in my eyes as well and I am a pot smoker, Ive never blazed one up in the cabin, and actually dont even like to at all while sledding. Its hard enough to have the energy to ride hard all day let alone doing it while stoned lol. I dont find its the impairment, more the lack of wanna afterward, just makes me wanna watch and chill more than ride. If you wanna have a dube I could care less but ya go off to a spot where your not gonna piss off the masses

SAR more than likely won't respond to that. There is a risk matrix used in deciding when we respond to a task. A bunch of guys in a warm safe cabin in a high traffic area that lost their keys but can get a ride down in the morning is so low it's not even on the matrix.

In them hills.
Buddy and I were up on Boulder last year on a Wednesday.

Stopped at the cabin for a warm up and one of Shady's guides had a 1ft bong out on the table and a soldering torch, doing dabs @ 10 am.
