Found this on one of the Sidewinder groups on Facebook, guy was getting the SD-08 code so took apart the motor and found corrosion. Cleaned everything up and back to working good as new. Once I get back home ill be taking mine apart and having a look.

Can I run stock mapping with any of those cans?

You sure can, I’m completely stock with the Cr straight pipe, I know there’s quite a few people running either the Cr straight pipe , or resonator with stock tune. They also offer a resonator pipe with muffpot bracket Aswell I have a muffpot right on my straightpipe to! Few options for ya

Anyone need a reverse actuator for a sidewinder ? I ordered one and I don’t need it anymore . Problem is Argyll motorsports in Edmonton makes you pay for parts when you order it not when you pick it up, so the part hasn’t even come in to the store yet and they won’t return it and give my money back . They say no returns on electrical parts. I understand that. But it’s not a return if it hasn’t even been picked up by the customer

So does anyone need a reverse actuator . Located in Edmonton area! Paid 200 will let it go for $175

Thanks in advance

That is bad business, i'll definitely remember that about them. All i can see is maybe charging you a restocking charge at most. Personally if you were my regular customer i would eat the cost. You don't even have the part, its not like it was installed and removed it is 100% sellable.

Too me that sounds like a desperate business using minor loop holes in making money and not serving the customer.

Update, talked to parts manager and told him how displeased I was to say the least. But I have to pay 10% restocking fee. A lot happier with that then paying for the whole part I don’t need! Therefore, reverse actuator motor no longer up for grabs folks!

Damn it I have a feeling ill be going through the same thing. I wont be home for a couple weeks so didn't want to have to wait on the part so I ordered one as well just to have in case mine was f'd.

What ended up being the issue causing your SD-08 alarm?

If you take the reverse actuator off (3 torx screws) then take it off the gear box , there is 4 screws holding the thing together . Take those 4 screws off. Could be some condensation inside . Dry it out really well, then on the copper coil that the carbon brushes make contact with you’ll probably see some corrosion. Just take some sand paper clean that corrosion off. Put some dielectric grease around the seal when you put it back together , should work better then new

Ya mine was full of condensation so I dried it out and tried it again with no luck. It wasn't until I was back at work that I found that pic of the corrosion. So I am guessing that is my problem as well, hopefully ill have the same luck as you with getting my money back.

To be clear, I am happy with the outcome from Argyll Motorsports and the resolution they came up with!!

Yes just a little sand paper, clean it up worked good as new ! I’m sure yours will be the same way

Hopefully. Wonder if I should risk cancelling my order and having a restocking fee. I get back on the evening of the 29th and leave the 30th for a trip, so Argyll is closed. Guess if thats not my problem and mine is toast then just a trip with no reverse.... Or get the wife on the tools lol.

Yeah , I mean a few people now have had the same problem. And cleaning that corrosion was the issue. Up to you if you want to cancel and try that. Lol I’m guessing it will work. But not going to guarantee it and be at fault ahhaha
