165 Alpha gets weighed

Drop another 50lbs and you will be in the game with Polaris 163 (with Quickdrive that is) They are supposed to be about 417 dryweight.

For comparison my 2013 174 MTNTK turbo is 495 lbs with no fuel. With a SSI titanium can and the bdx air box a guy drops 40 lbs on Alpha.

Your Axys ready to ride no fuel is not 417 lbs.

2018 pro RMK 163 3" dry weight is 426 according to the specs offered in quick search.

I said Quickdrive model, not the much heavier chaincase model. Also I know the model I am referring to only has a 2.6" lug track but all I am concerned with is lightest sled period. WHen the sled is super light it does not need a 3" lug track. The Polaris also losses lots of weight with a light weight can.

Yes no coolant, no oils , no belt etc. We are talking ready to ride NO fuel. Big difference.

Ok this was the argument when Polaris first brought out the PRO.

This Video is dry weight, s we can exclude the fuel fact. So include a 3 lb belt , Can say what oil in the video, no, so add 5 lbs, add 10 lbs in coolant for this argument is 444lbs.or an even 450.

I would have to think claimed dry weight has a belt.

When you pick up the front end they do feel heavier than the 850 was.
Happen to have one Alpha in my garage.......just need some bathroom scales.

Shipping weight on the manufacturer plate with serial# is 209kg.
Cat advertise dry weight was 454 for the 165 so yes always was heavier.
Never a hidden item.

I'll check wet weight this weekend.

I still don’t understand dry weight claims. Who gives a $hit. You’re not going to ride it dry. Full tank of gas ready to ride weights are the only ones that matter if anyone cares about weight at all.

Okay so how much weight do you think is added with shock oil, coolant and some 2 stroke oil? maybe 10 lbs? There is no chain oil with belt drive. The Cat weighed has no fuel in it. And ready to ride is BS too as some hold more fuel than others. With your train of thought I would buy the sled with the smallest fuel tank. I am sure that a dry weight has a belt on it, just no spare.

I laugh. I go out on the hill and my eyes really see what is going on. How many people are 200#+? Way more people way over weight than the sleds are. 10, 20, 30 pounds for the sled really doesn't make a difference when one is trying to manoeuvre our slick sleds through the trees. What really makes the difference is the weight differential of the riders.

The cheapest mod one can do to lessen the weight is to get into shape and lost some of that belly/ass fat!

Doug, I agree but you would be amazed at the results if you took 50 lbs off the rider AND 50 lbs off the sled. A completely different experience is realized that most people are completely missing. You already have the belly weight thing figured out now all you need to do is put the doo on a diet.

It isn't that important to me Chris. In my mind, I get along just fine and a lot better than most. I don't need a turbo to get further up the hill nor do need to cut the weight of the sled. I'm having fun the way it is.

I agree too that its silly spending big money to lose weight on your sled if you have easy weight to lose yourself. Plus its healthier and you feel better all the time. Does a person notice 5 or 10lbs on a sled? No, but there is something to be said about a sled when you get it near the 400lbs mark (dry). Like tethair said, its just a different experience IMHO
