Aside from noise, weight and dyno tests that I have not seen,.. do cans like MBRP, GGB or others actually improve performance. If flow tests/gains can be proven I want one. Why don't companies divulge information, is it because they don't improve performance?

I had an MBRP trail can on my XM,.. don't know if it was better because I took the stock can off as soon as sled got home.

My advice is run the sled with the stock can on it first. Than add a can afterwards and see the difference in performance. Every sled is different and so is the can.

I have to do this anyways to put some wear through the stock can on my Polaris 850 that is coming. I was just wondering what everyone else's thought were.

A muffler will NEVER increase power, but you can loose power if it isn't built properly. All the manufacturing companies are saying that there muffler increases a few HP, This is 100% incorrect. The only why to increase HP is with an expansion chamber (pipe) to help push air back into the engine.
If a can or muffler doesn't match the stock cans flow characteristics and back pressure it will then alter how the pipe works. Some cans work with the stock pipe with others will only work with a pipe.

Put a sled shed cooker can on my 850 doo.
Then a jaws can.
Also mbrp. They all caused me to loose rpm during long wot playing. Long pulls drop to 73-7700 rpm. Shut the sled off for 10 mins and the sled pulled like crazy till I beat on it longer.
Finally gave up on cans and put stock back on. Rpms held 8000 all day no mater how hard I rode it. My sled definitely didn’t like cans.

This right here is another example as to why it a bad idea to put a can on right away. I had a similar experience but put a can on after riding the sled with the stock can.

Not a 100% true statement, depending on application and elevation. For example, a muffler with a smaller outlet can work as a tighter pipe, which can add a marginal gain on short runs. Too tight and you'll end up with a squeaked piston. And although I know this thread was aimed toward the 2 stroke crowd, a less restrictive muffler will increase performance on MOST 4 strokes.
Generally, the manufacturers do a great job on pipe/muffler combos, offering the best performance and noise reduction for the stock calibration. The OEM crowd spends a TON of money getting it right...

Yes four strokes do see a HP increase with a less restrictive exhaust. I was being specific to the 2 strokes

We at GGB Exhaust do not claim hp gain.

All our exhaust is North American Built.

We have two sounds to choose from mountain or trail.

You will see better throttle response.

All our exhaust come with a 2-year manufactures warranty and 100% customer satisfaction.

Check out our Facebook and read our reviews. We have a 4.9 out 5 based on 365 reviews. https://www.facebook.com/GGBExhaust/

Our mountain can will weight 4-5.5 Lbs.

Our trail can will weigh 6-7.5 Lbs.

Mountain Series Exhaust
AGGRESSIVE SOUND when you’re on the throttle and is best suited for use in unpopulated areas. Its straight-through design and small physical size sheds huge weight.

Trail Series Exhaust
The “DEEP” exhaust note is sure to turn heads and is designed for riders wanting to enhance the sound of their machine but do not want the aggressive sound of a straight through can.
Both mufflers shed huge weight and are
designed to run with sleds stock fuel and clutch setting.

Is the packing going to "blow out" and the can become progressive louder like your competitor/sister company in those 2 years? I won't run the guys next door shiny products any longer because of that.

I ran a GGB Trail can last year, I think that it was causing a low end bog on my sled. I only have 300 miles on my sled. Didn't feel the bog the first 30 mile run with the stock exhaust, at which point i switched to the GGB trail can. Going to run the stock exhaust this year on my 2017 Arctic Cat XF8000 High Country 153".

My son and I went back to the stock can just because of the noise especially when you do a ski pull on the muffler side which usually happens a few times a day. Don't care about the weight it might make me climb a extra 10 feet so who cares.

The stock muffler will cook ribeye in 20-45 mins depending how hard you ride. Shape your food packs to put against muffler with parcmant paper and foil.

Got the Trail MBRP from dealer for the Alpha.
Have the plate ready to mount the muff pot.
Save a few pounds and free up some space for a food carrier before food hits the cooker.
