Was there a thread or post with the emergency contact numbers for different riding areas?
Heli services numbers
SAR numbers
RCMP numbers

Seems to me there was talk of putting a sticky at the top of each riding area forum with these in it, can't seem to find them

Just want to note that you can't call and dispatch SAR by yourself you have to first contact the RCMP and they will dispatch them if they deem you are at risk.

Also just to piggy back off this. In BC is there a 10 digit number to reach 911?

Kinda like the one an alarm system would dial?

This would be helpful from a Sat phone vs carrying a list of RCMP phone #.

(Ps. 911 on the sat phone sucks. GEOS )

So
The only numbers u need are the RCMP ones in the areas
u ride in , call them and verify there numbers ahead of time
and after hours numbers to , for example after a certain hour everything
from blue river to Prince George is dispatching from Prince George’s RCMP satiation / then the closest red coat gets the notice
so just call there first to save time after hours
check with them it’s free
get a labeler machine and print sticky’s of all numbers to call with area codes and stick them to ur
sat phone
then ur ready to make a call in a moments notice

Came here to say the same thing. In BC SAR won't dispatch until RCMP calls Victoria to have EMBC issue a task# to the SAR group.

In our newest cabin in Fernie, we installed a VHF radio that is linked directly to the RCMP via a repeater. Full instructions on the wall and easy-peasy to use. It is run off batteries and a solar panel. Works great.

You should get RGM to program that directly into your radio.

Kinda related; I've seen a few people leave a note on their vehicle in staging areas with info about their group on it which would help a lot in an emergency situation.Names, what they are riding, where they plan on riding, emergency contact numbers ,etc.

I have heard that you are not allowed to talk on RCMP channels and you get fined if you do.

What's the real deal? Do they get pissy if you radio in for help?

This isn't an RCMP channel. It is an emergency phone using VHF and it goes direct to the Kelowna detachment. It was set up by a communication company in Sparwood.

Ok thanks. Can anyone use it? And if so what is the frequency?

Hey Mike you just made a really cool contribution to the forum. I sometimes sled by myself and if I left a note my friends would know quicker the area I'm in so they can come and get my sled and my body. Thx Mike

I've no idea what the frequency is and I think it will only phone the RCMP. It is in the cabin for emergency use and anybody can use it. At the beginning of the season, I always do a test run just to familiarize myself with the process. One pushes the proper buttons, wait for the ring-dingy, and someone on the other end answers. They have always been receptive to a test call and pleasant to talk to.
