VARDA is very proud to release our plan to construct a new warming shelter in the Allan Creek area in the fall of 2018. This will be our largest and most challenging infrastructure project to date and we are excited to be releasing our plans to the public.

We are even more proud to say that we will be constructing this shelter as a memorial to a recently fallen local legend, Tony Parisi. What many may not know, is that Tony fought hard for backcountry access and was one of the main reasons conversations began that eventually led to the creation of what we now know as the Valemount & Area Recreation Development Association (VARDA).

Tony lived for the feeling of being in the highcountry on sleds and helped pioneer the industry that feeds Valemount today. Allan Creek was his second home and this new shelter will forever act as a memorial for our good friend, mountain legend, true cowboy and the original Snowfarmer.

The new shelter will be a stretch for us, but we believe that the value in this new project is extremely high for our visitors and are excited at the challenge.

Due to the remoteness of the building site, very short build season and general difficulties of construction, this will be a very large undertaking.

As with the construction of the Clemina shelter, many have already asked how to help with this project. The funding campaign for the Clemina shelter was a big success and we are relying on that level of support again to make this project possible.

We will be running the same donation campaign as we have previously with the Clemina shelter. All donors over $100 will be recognized on a permanent plaque in the cabin in one of three categories. There is a limit to get on the memorial plaque although no donation is too small. Every little bit counts. Donations can be made via the gofundme link below, direct etransfer, paypal or good old cheque.

"Treeline" $100 - 499
"Alpine" $500 -999
“Highmark” $1000 +

This is one of our largest projects to date and we are anxiously waiting for the alpine construction season. The new shelter means a huge deal to sledding in Valemount and we are extremely happy to be able to dedicate this build to our friend Tony.

If you have any questions about any of this information, please contact me anytime.

Pretty sure Varda said on Instagram they can't build one at Chappell. Not 100% sure why.

Thank you to everyone who has helped support the Allan Creek Shelter project and the memorial for our friend Tony.

It's getting very real now. We spent yesterday in the alpine working on the layout of the new shelter. Construction to begin soon!

We will be closing the GOFUNDME account at the end of the month when we begin our annual sponsorship drive. We have surpassed our goal which is very inspiring. This project has turned into a massive undertaking both logistically and financially and we need all of the help we can get.

There is still time to get in on the drive and forever be a part of this new shelter.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you

VARDA is looking for several strong backs to help out in the Allan Creek Alpine on Friday Aug 3rd. Likely the entire day. A quad or side by side is needed for access although we should have a few spare seats if we get enough participation so please send your interest regardless.

It will be a full day of work and we will need commitment from those who are willing so we can plan accordingly.

If you are available to help out, please email info@ridevalemount.com

Thank you for the consideration.

Pic for attention (heavy hauling with the Range, that sucker impresses me every time!)

Sure wish I could be there to help. I will provide moral support from a remote location.
