Speaking of this green energy, I updated my garage and some of my house lights to LED, I thought there was a rebate on them through the Govt, is this claimable on my taxes? If not where the hell is the carbon tax money going? Am I missing something?

The carbon tax money goes in to general revenue. That way, the way smarter and better with your money than you are government can waste it on what ever they feel like. If you have a job and income above the minimum wage you wont qualify. To qualify you would need your home inspected before and after (on your dime) I believe by the Ontario company our exalted leader hired to perform this highly skilled task of counting light bulbs. My buddy did the window program through the Government and it cost him considerably more than to just replace the windows. Any time the Government is involved production is at a minimum and cost is at a maximum. This is why in Alberta we have a 10 B dollar deficient and rising, and in Canada 1 Trillion. We have given these Governments stupid amounts of carbon tax money and still the spending is out of control with no plan to stop. You can't vote in people that are not competent. Really for PM we could just use a nice dog if he growls when you ask him a question the answer is no if the tail is wagging we got the go ahead. At least we could send him to other countries and not be embarrassed and the laughing stock of the United Nations.

Sorry for the rant but those 2 drive me crazy.

I hate the NDP but I did sign up for this program and they came and swapped all my bulbs last week. It did take a few months till they did it but they did do it and I make a lot of money so it’s not based on your wage

I had mine changed as well. Guy was a real odd ball, everything by the book and kept telling me about the great value he was providing. Tried telling me the bulbs were like $15 each even though they were on sale at crappy tire for about $2 at the time.
Anything he couldn't reach with his 2' ladder had to be done by me while he was here. Would only change the A19 bulbs, nothing else like floods or pot lights.
Power bars are junk and the tap aerators won't fit anything built this side of 1980. Waste of time for me, half a day off work for $50 worth of light bulbs.

If anyone did the carbon math I am sure these guys running around in their white boogie Vans for months on end have put more carbon into the atmosphere than all the lightbulbs they have replaced can save.

Program is a Joke.

If people spend the time to actually look at their power bill they will find that almost all of the costs are fees, not power usage. May save some money installing LEDs but the govt and utility companies keep jacking fees with carbon tax and all the other bull****. I really hope that when the UCP wins the next election that they really do get rid of the carbon tax. The utility companies are as crooked as the NDP govt.

All you get is regular looking LED bulbs. They will swap your pot lights, but only install that bulb. It works but doesn't look too good, so 99% of customers say to leave them alone.

I was on the list for 6 months but they finally did swap them out. I had a young female do the work and she was quite good at the job. Not scared of climbing ladders, taking fixtures apart. No problems there.
A different guy came over and did the thermostat, that was another story, very unprofessional.
I usually don't do this but with all my carbon money being wasted figured might as well get a few back. Typical government BS spending. Just think about how this program works. There are several bodies involved getting this done. What's the old joke, "how many people does it take to change a light bulb?" People answering phones, making appointments, driving around in vans, filling out all kinds of paperwork, taking pictures, etc. Someone has to pay them for all that labour plus the material cost. How much do those $50 bulbs really cost?
It's their way to get you to vote for them again, you'll forget about the tax but remember those "free" bulbs they gave you. :frusty:

From over here in SK, first I'm hearing of this program, and it sounds like the kind of wasteful stupidity I dread.

If I'm not mistaken, the carbon tax is actually adding to the province's deficit because they are actually handing back more in rebates that they're taking in.

Those rebates are a joke. Peeps getting $75 from government and carbon levy for a month of natural gas to heat the house and farm shop is $118? Big hairy deal. I'd send the money to Kenney to help get our province back from the maniac's.

If I put an NDP sign in my yard would I get a better green energy rebate? Fawkin carbon tax is 1/4 of my gas bill.
