Buying a new 18 Polaris pro RMK 800 155 track 2.6"

*Does anyone use the PIDD w/ GPS and if so any pros n cons?

*I do like e-start yet how much weight does it add? any maintenance issues as I leave my sled outside

* Upgrading to the Clicker shocks is it worth the extra money or do aftermarket ?

Thanks for any input!

There is a reflash for the pidd/gps (make sure that's done or screen will go blank on first use). I think it is well worth having if you do any exploring and definitely if a storm blows in, you can back track to get back out.

Have not had e-start, so no comment.

Personal preference on shocks.. I've had two sleds with clicker shocks (2011 Assault and 2015 Pro) and two without (2013 Pro and 2018 Axy). I personally am not a fan of clickers, so I snowchecked my 2018 Axy without this time and I just put after market on, heading out next week to try them.

Hope this helps

Clickers are an upgrade over the standard Walkers. For the money they are a decent shock but there are better out there. Depends on what your needs are. I don’t mind the clickers.

The gauges, whatever, can’t see them under the pow.

Get the painted tunnel.

Estart, my Axys came with it. It’s sitting in a box on the shelf. It will go back on when I sell the sled. I see no need for estart on a polaris. I haven’t started a new Poo 850 but I am guessing it’s just as easy as the current 800.

I have electric start on my 2017 and love it. I am not a young buck anymore and the the e-start is great. I had to go a few extra miles to find a left over sled with e-start

Shocks just go aftermarket. even the best OEM are still nothing compared to aftermarket.
Painted tunnel makes a huge difference weight wise, way less snow sticks to it.
My sled this year (mountain cat) came with E-start, i had full intentions of taking it off but after two weekends it is nice when you in those awkward spots on a side hill opposite side of the handle. the 20 pounds can be taken out with a can upgrade and 2 weeks of healthy eating. lol as for maintenance just the battery would want to put a tender on it when possible.

The sled I have my eye on : Has black painted tunnel / red spindles / handguards / both tunnel bags / e- start / clicker shocks / PIDD display.

I would upgrade Can so I can have my muff pot and it sounds like I can just take off the E start If I desire?

Here is a pic

yeah e-start is fairly easy to take off. The only thing is make sure the hand guards have the metal mounts the plastic ones break after the first roll.

I had Elka Stage 5's all around for my 16 Axys and LOVED them.. but then Gigantor my husband kept stealing my sled, and eventually my shocks when I snowchecked my 17 with the Polaris Clickers. I like the Clickers, I'm 5'9 140 lbs and they do me just fine, but husband aka gigantor really enjoys the Elkas. I think for his weight and size he notices the difference much more than me. I can fine tune my polaris clickers to where I'm happy. I have E start, for when I have a stuck and swing myself around having to pull off camber it gets a little rough and uses up a lot of my energy so e start it is. That being said the new Polaris 850 pull starts twice as easy as the 16 17 18 Axys does, which even at that pulls easy one armer for me. the 850 is just easier than previous years. I like the gps gauge and actually helped us save a buddy who dropped off the face of the earth and got lost. We used radio contact and GPS coordinates to direct him to a nearby logging road where he rode out safely and we met up with him with the trucks. He had a Rhino and I used my GPS gauge.

The sled was snowchecked with nice options and now clutched for 8k plus elevation with 420 miles sold as a demo for 11k. Debate is just buying 18 no miles @ 9400. and spending

money on shocks and PIDD yet would not have painted tunnel or rails. I have no problem w/ pull start on my current 14 Pro.

I cannot see where you are from and I am guessing ID/MT based on the clutching elevation and pricing.

I would find out about the warranty as it would have kicked in when the sled was delivered/activated so it likely has already burned a year and sometimes guys take the two year instead of the three year in leu of the gauge or further discount.

$10k for a sled with one year warranty might not be the best deal.

Usually with Polaris Demo's the warranty starts when the new owner purchases it. With Cat's they start when the demo arrives at the dealer, correct me if I'm wrong.

painted tunnels are the bomb. i have a fella come over and 3m film the sides above the boards just to stop my boots from rubbing the paint. our 2015 with black tunnel still looks great. no scuffs or scratches.

I have been told by Polaris sales people as recent as yesterday demos start the day the dealer takes delivery and snowcheck sleds when they are delivered as well.

As an example Cycleworks has a nice ‘17 sitting on the floor, cancelled snowcheck that someone backed out of, they only opted for the 2 year warranty to save some cash and it has already burned a year sitting on the floor. Pretty hard for them to move that sled now as Polaris won’t discount it further than it has been.

this would be 3rd demo and starts when I pick it up and will have a 3 year so not worried about that and thinking can get him down to 10500. with all the above options.

Vs. paying 9500 for 0 mile sled with no upgrades and shocks = @ 1400 / e start 350 / painted tunnel cost ? / PIDD= 850 / painted spindles and Rails / hand guards 150 /

tunnel bags 200 = @ 12500. give or take. From WI an have place n CO where I keep it an ride all over & Into WY.

I run a 2013 Assault RMK. I set the clickers to where I liked them and have NEVER adjusted them again. I also have E-start. Battery maintenance and replacing the worn out bendix was a huge pain. And not cheap. The bendix was a big job and $200 Cdn. I had to replace the battery and now run a battery tender. I pull start the sled almost every time now for fear of wearing out the bendix, however I have left e-start on the sled for when you are in those awkward positions where tapping the key is best to start it. I can't say for the display gauge, however I carry a hand held GPS, but when in familiar territory, don't really look at it.

Good Info Heimie! I don't have power where I store my sled so don't want to deal with battery issues as I have no problem rolling her over to get to my pull cord. awkward spots would be nice and I did like using the E start just don't like the extra weight or maintenance issues it will involve yet someone said I can just take if off and then when I sell it put it back on.
I wish Polaris would steal SKIDOOS new SHOT start system....... then It would be a no brainer

Yes, I hope one day all OEMs would come with a SHOT system. As for me, I don't think my next sled will have the E-start, unless is too good of a deal to pass up.

I think it is because your dealer did not register your sled as a sale when they used it as a demo. They just do the paperwork after you get it. Before that Polaris does not know they are riding it??
