Looks like I have found a buyer for my sled. I have actually never sold a sled before though in Canada. Back home we would sign a "Title" over to the new owner. What should you do up here just so everyone has the right paperwork?

Bill of sale signed - buyer/seller, and it should be registered and have a spot to sign on the back. Thats it, could also do a lien check.

Ive always just wrote them out. Can find copy via google too I suppose.
I just put year, sn#, make, model, mileage (if you have it), free of all liens and encumbrance's (if it is?) where is as is (if that's the agreement) and I have a witness sign as well..

Im not positive, as I havnt tested the waters, but I heard a few rumours that hand written Bill of sales are not acceptable anymore at registries. Anyone else heard this? I just get them free from AMA. They give them out.

Some places will only accept the original, no photocopies.
Then they photocopy and file!

Make sure you keep a copy for yourself. If whoever buys it doesn't register it and it gets left on a hill , stolen or whatever, the last registered owner is responsible for its recovery unless you have proof stating otherwise.

Pretty sure they accept them, sold my 2011 Assault mid January, and I see the buyer has it registered. Well plates on it at least?!?!

And always write “sold as is” on the bill of sale!

And only take postdated ,out of town cheques, bitcoin or a cheque for more money than the sled and pay the buyer the difference plus give them the sled.
