I refused to watch Snowtrax after they rated a 600 Skidoo short track as real world sled of the year. They don't seem to know what a snowmobile is for, SNOW!!!

As much as we would like to think us mountain riders are the biggest players in the industry overall we are not. Way more short track sleds sold than mountain sleds.

Not my point, You can take a mountain sled on the trail, short track won't work in the deep.

A mountain sled is as good on a trail, as a short sled is in the deep. In fact, I'd almost bet a good rider could make a short track (with big paddles) work better in the deep, then an experienced trail rider could make a 3" 174 last on the trails.

Also, many could argue that a 600 almost has a higher fun factor out west. Afterall, it wasn't long ago a 1.75 136 583 was king of the hill.

Actually it was like 20 years ago, that's a long while. That said I would totally like a 600 146 for spring/crap snow rides to keep it interesting. The 174 is too easy about 50% of the time.

So the shootout was close but the G4 edged out the AXYS for 1 year. Now consider this, it should, as Ski-Doo knew what the competition was pushing so they had a benchmark to beat. That is good. Now we are almost at the 2019 release date. Who thinks Ski-Doo will make more changes for 2019 to up their game or do you think it's Polaris' turn to bring something to the market that should re-capture top position? It seems that Polaris holds that position much longer than Doo.
The clear winner is the customer, unless we are talking about their wallets.

I'm betting Polaris makes a motor change this year. I don't think Doo will do much of anything new in the mountain segment. Maybe G4 Skandic 's for the utility guys . Lol

850-860ish motor pushing 180 hp, revised track design, new rear skid. The motor will have separate jugs like the 600 not a monoblock like the 800. Still semi-direct injection.

Wakey, wakey Chris... it will be an 850 at 167.3 hp with a 36" front end and some lighter weight stuff. 180 hp would be amazing, but I don't think so. They still need to do some cool other stuff that pushes the industry like Doo did with SHOT. Agree that its the consumers that win!

Even at that hp it should be a contender, track dependent. They already have the coolest feature that Doo and Cat don't have. 30 less pounds!
