Sounds exactly like when I learned how important it was to let an engine warm up to operating temp before riding it.

Is it detonation your hearing??

Yes, poping and missing. Called a few places and nobody can get me in till next week...supposed to be going on a trip this weekend. Sled is out by Alberta beach and I'm on days off. Case of beer if anyone wants to come tell me wtf it is

Well, if it's up to operating temps and still doing it I'd suspect bad fuel. Aside from that though, it's pretty tough to diagnose over the interweb.
Good luck.

Drained all old gas out, put another new set of plugs and had my coil tested at Echo. Coil was tested bad. Bought a new one thinking my problem was solved...nope. Now gauges all seem fine but still running rough and backfiring. Comp test is 132 and 135. Also sprayed some wd40 by primary when it was running and no change in rpm. No codes coming up either...hands in air. Have to take it to a shop and spend some mula.

How’s your coolant level? Base gasket leaking coolant into engine causing bad ignition. Is it smoking quite a bit?
Coolant level was a little low but sled doesn't smoke at all when warm just a little when it's cold. Sat outside last night and two pulls with half choke and it fired up no prob this morning.

90% of back firing issues on a 2 stroke is caused by over fueling. Back firing will happen in the pipe.
Can you tell which cylinder is causing the issue? It will most likely be ONE cylinder causing the problem.
I see your sled is pretty old, how are your carb's, float level?
Did you confirm reeds as OK?
Does your sled use a pulse fuel pump, if it does, pull the pulse line from the case. There should be NO fuel coming out of line.

If your fuel system checks out ok.
Then the next likely hood would be ign. You know you have spark cause it starts but it could be weak or sporadic from a bad stator.
Ign. coil's work or don't work, no in between. Your's work.
Ign. timing won't be off unless you played with it, module would be very last to check.

Hope that helps some.

Its not just going into a limp mode? I don't know too much about Doo but there are two safety switches on the throttle of the Polaris sleds that will make it pop and fart if either one is stuck when you squeeze the throttle, but will run good at an idle?
Just a thought?
Good luck.

I gave up trying to fight with this issue after a week of digging I dropped it off a specialty sleds last week (was told they are great). Just got a call, they said My problem was It had a bad relay. Spark was intermittent and finally went. Thanks for all the helpful tips guys! Off to sum steep and deep this weekend!!!!
