What is the point of buying a brand new sled? Seems like every single failure on a snowmobile can be declared a wear item. Look at the fine print in your manual. Is there anything on a snowmobile that is NOT a wear item?

I have got some stuff done on Polaris warranty.
I think it's more about a) having the latest and greatest, and b) knowing it hasn't been abused and worn out by someone else.

I’ve said this before. The joy of snow checking a sled is exciting. But. It’s not as exciting as buying a hold over sled that is also brand new and keeping $7-8k in my pocket. IMO
7-8k less seems like a pretty big discount on a 1 year hold over, but if comparing a Doo X with 4 years to sp holdover with 1 year warranty is it even that much?

Starting to feel the same way.Had a small oil leak/electrical fire on new sled. Dealership made me fill out 3 pages of useless paperwork and initially steered to no warranty repairs. I laughed and told manager that yeah I didn't feel like riding that day so tossed paper soaked in gas and lit a match. Asking me question on what lead to failure, told him I ain't a mechanic.I ride it, you fix it sounds about right with warranty.Picking it up tomorrow so will see the verdict.

My last sled was a one yr old trade in from guy who gets a new one every yr. Nothing but problems, not just one thing but multiple different issues. Will be the last used sled I buy as main machine. Next one will be a non current hold over. Can still find 17 axys for around 11k. That's a fair bit of fuel or extra goodies on a 5k price difference.

Wow, they wanted you to pay out of pocket for a brand new sled that started on fire? Oil lines are a wear item, maybe you wore them out and caused the problem yourself. What a joke.

There are 850’s all over kijiji right now.2017 for $12k. Brand new. Both of my buddy’s paid more than $17k for there’s in 2017. Was the same with cat. In 2017 I was looking at brand new 15’s and 16’s from $8-$11k. Maybe it was Alberta’s economic downturn. Maybe not 7-8k but for sure 5-6 k savings. That’s a lot of goodies right there.

Cat was years of oversupplied ****ty sleds that got liquidated this year. Good deals forsure, but that has come to an end.

Your buddies payed over list prices (17k) for their 2017 G4's?

True I don’t think we will see those kind of deals again with the new ownership. Yea by the time they walked out the door in 2017 with there new 850’s they were $17,600.

Ouch, when I went to snowcheck a 17 it was $15,500 for a 165" 3" pull start plus tax. But I guess you add estart and a few other doo dats and you can be a $17.5 pretty fast.
