Getting back into the sport after a couple years and things have come along a wee bit since I left. Last rode a 2009 m8 with 2.6 153 powerclaw. Looking to get the most I can out of $9-10 grand all in and having a hard time deciding. Spent a day recently in deep pow on 2013 pro rmk 163 and loved it, a few. Minutes on a 163 3" T3 and felt so different. Will adapt to whatever route I go and just looking for feedback from the group.

I was leaning on a 2015+ T3 163-174 for the forgiveness but also interested in axys in 163 3" if possible but dont want to have to make a ton of mods. Would like a sled to just put gas and oil in and ride the heck out of it, warranty a plus. Some good deals coming out on holdover 16-17s that may be worth a few more bucks?

thx for the help

Pro's are nice just need to make sure it is the updated motor or has the "fix kit" in it, lots where blowing up due to it. very nice if you like more technical riding. doo is a solid machine not many problems just very different to ride with the lay down steering reliable and an all round work horse like the cat. Cat i would only go 2016 on as that is where they made the major updates, Team clutches and narrow front end. motors are known to be oil and go bombproof only issues can be reeds around the 1500 mile mark they start to crack. an evening in the garage and a couple bucks later better than new.

I am moving to Kelowna area so will be riding around there, not if that matters but figure there may be more steep and deep days compared to the Coquihalla and 10-k areas which I usually ride. I think it is down to a T3 15-16 in 163-174 or a 16 axys in 163 unless I can get a new one on holdover.

I think the axys is an awesome sled as well. From what Ive heard a pipe setup and clutching really wake these up alot so might want to budget that in if you lean that direction.

I don't see many used Axys' for sale and the 174's all seem to be priced really high. If it's something you're looking to get a few years out of I'd say the 163 T3 is a great all around machine and they hold up well long term. The Poos and Cats seem to feel more worn out after 2000 or so km. I put over 6000km on my 2014 Doo and it was just gas/oil pull and go.

I ride Polaris and love the Axys, but pertaining to this specific question a T3 is a solid bet. Don't forget to leave yourself a few bucks for any gear you might need to update.

I went from the old m cat to a t3 174 and never looked back . I have 3000 miles on and it still works like new have frends with pros and they are not doing as well. If you ride deep powder in the trees the t3 is crazy good.

Pick one. You can’t go wrong. Any perception that one is better than the other will only be personal preference. They both are excellent.
