Just wondering if any of you folks ditched the jacket/bib set-up and went to a onesie/monosuit? What are your thoughts?

Pros cons of the monosuit setup?

I switched 2 years ago. Don't know if I'd ever go back. Never get wet and it's comfortable. No restrictions of movement like you might think. That being said Somedays in the spring I 2 piece it when it's real hot.

Have klim 2 piece last year bought an fxr onesie and love it. Find it warmer and enjoy just wearing a t shirt under it. The onesie is insulated. May sweat a little more because the lack of layering but when it's warm out nice to be able to open it up and be in my t shirt

Went with a FXR onesie last year as I had to send my Klim gear away for warranty. By the time I got my Klim back, I was in love with my onesie. Sold my brand new Klim for more than I paid for my FXR suit. Win/win. The other nice thing with the new suit is how bright it is. Riding partners say it's way easier to pick you out from a distance than all the other guys dressed in black suits.

Back in the day, we wore "onesie's". I won't go back.

With bibs and a jacket there is a lot more choice in adjusting to temperatures. I've never been wet nor had snow up my back with my bibs. A shell for spring riding and an insulated jacket for the cold days. The bibs are non-insulated and my legs have never been cold. I guess when you live in the mountains, you don't have to ride on the cold days and can pick and choose which days you want to ride so having the big insulated gear that the flatlanders bring out is not necessary when riding in the warmer weather.

i bought a onesie this year at the sled show. Went with the non insulated motorfist suit. I cant wait to give it a go. I rode the Klim pants and jacket for 6 years and loved it except for the occasional snow down the pants.

Hope this suit provides the same awesome results minus the snow down the back of course.

Cheers

I agree with Ferniesnow in that I feel the combination provides greater flexibility in temperature control to the onsie while requiring fewer layers. The grimace in the hood would certainly be an unpleasant situation.

In addition to those thoughts, if I stuck to the usual black color, I would tend to resemble a harbor seal

Yup... done with Klim and picked up FXR Ranger at Edmonton ASA looking forward to it... the 4 way stretch is amazing combined with the water proof technology in this product. Time will tell..

Haha, yup! I was looking at the FXR onesie's at the sled show and the kid there asked if I had ever worn one before? I said yah 35 years ago when everybody wore them!

Isn't that the truth. They were quite flimsy with insulation and back in the day no one thought about layers and polyester. I had some pretty cold rides at -30 or -40.

My ol man was giving me the gears about wearing one. He said the same thing. "i used to wear them 30 years ago". This year at the show it was way to busy to try one on. Do they fir true to size? most jackets i have are XL and just barley long enough on the arms. Some guy i talked to said he bought a TOBE Large and he was taller then me. I'm 6'2 220lb large seems small...i want a FXR one.

I bought an FXR one 3 years ago, very easy to move in and mine is uninsulated so I can layer underneath, I'll never switch back to a 2 piece.

The FXR ones fit almost a full size to big, so I'd suggest you go with a large....especially if you choose the Ranger with the 4-way stretch. FYI, I'm 6'4", 205 lbs and I wear a large, and it has some spare room in the stomach area. I did have to use the drop-hem feature though as they were a little short for my height.

Hope that helps!

Why not go to the FXR store in Edmonton and try them on and possibly buy from there? says your in St. Albert they are on the west end in mayfield common.
