Anyone make their own blowhole?

Just thinking of gabbing one of these up myself. They seem like a good idea but holy cow expensive. Plus i like to tinker with stuff like this. Thinking of doing a lightweight hood with headlight delete so could just make a plug in to utilize the headlight power supply. Would a computer fan work for this? If not where would a guy find one?

Haven't made my own, but if I did I would use a marine blower.

I've done both marine blower and computer case fan.

prefer the case fans they are much lighter / less power draw / require less space. They weight nothing so you can mount them with zip ties and they won't move.

Theys guys have lots of fans heres an example:

i used a couple last year , I'll see if I can dig up the model I used

Awesome. I was hoping to hear from someone who has done this. I was leaning towards the computer fans myself. They are super cheap and move a lot of air.

For anyone with more electrical knowledge than me......how do you figure out what you can run as far as load? Like I said earlier, hoping to just plug right into the headlight power. How do I find out what kind of power is there and what I can draw?

And just to clarify....I'm not knocking mtntek at all. I probably wouldn't sell the kit any cheaper and their fit and finish looks top notch. But if I can do the same thing for 50 bucks myself rather that 350....then I don't care if it's not as pretty

The 12 volt accessory plug is on the left hand side of your dash ( once you have your hood off you can see it, right where your hand warmer and hi low beam switches are) I would just tap in there instead of the headlight circuit

Wasn't done with it. Just took some time off. Having kids, busy with work, built a house. Now thinking I need some time away from my three crazy boys to blow off some steam

Does the sled have estart? Easier to run accessory loads if you already have a battery and charging circuit.

The accessory plugs are sometimes fused pretty low and can only handle the load of a visor etc.

I would get a wiring diagram for that model sled and confirm the accessory circuit and fusing.

Some sleds have "acc." Wire labled and fused. But can also have a "ac" wire, which is different and is an "ac" current test port that is not fused and used for the diagnostic machines.

Be sure your wiring is fused appropriately so you don't cook your stator.
