W.t.f people, come on

People are still riding alone after the 3 last year

Use your head and don't ride alone, ever, even if your meeting someone at the cabin

Stuff happens any where, any time

Or at least bring the proper gear. Inreach and over night gear could have saved his life. Sad

Although tragic and probably 100% preventable, maybe he was the type that didn't communicate with his wife in these types of manners.

On a side note what is a Salmon man?

Salmon is a city in Idaho...
UP lake, from what I found... is a small lake/pond that's a popular fishing spot... I'd guess he started walking to the lake in hopes of bumping into someone to help him... There doesn't appear to be any shelter or cabin around the lake.

Yes if you have the right gear and a trip plan and someone is either tracking you through spot or inreach or expecting a callin it is not a problem. Guys fish, hunt, hike dirt bike, horseback ride etc ets all the time by themselves

I'm bad for this. Hunt fish all the time by myself, but I always tell closest friends where I am, usually with a map and dropped pin, and a time I'll be back in cell coverage. I went sledding up frisbee alone this year, equipped with a satellite phone, gps and radio, and watched several helicopters overhead. I got reamed out by a few friends for this.... but in my defence when I left the trails for trees I rode within walking distance of both cabins, And only for about 3 hours. But that's all it takes I suppose.

But the hunting and fishing alone isn't going to end for me, and I had 2 grizz charges last season. Is what it is

Very good communication is key imo

Well he was headed toward UP Lake.... Seriously guys, you have no idea what the deal was between he and his wife. For all you know they were split up or maybe he disappeared for days at a time. I've known guys like that. As for my situation, my wife would have been tracking me down after a few hours past my return time. On those few occasions I am on my own it is from point A to B with an expected arrival time.
